I too was thinking this thread is clearly not railroaded enough and could use an injection of gun control debate.

If someone wants to kill they'll find a way, no matter if it's guns, knives, or balloons full of jello.

I'm just not quick to accept possible excuses as to why a person butchers 5 people. The burden of proof that legitimately explains how a person could savagely kill 5 people are were not able to control themselves for me is incredibly high.

That's fine, but you know you don't have to prove it to anyone right? You don't have to try to discredit anything that lends credibility to the idea that he was a decent (albeit extremely troubled) young man. A lot of people are reading this thread, people that know the victims and people that know the perpetrator.

Constantly saying things along the lines of his parents not making sense, his friends not REALLY "knowing" him, and making judgements on what kind of person he is without knowing him is probably extremely disrespectful to those close to the situation. You've said your piece, and expressing yourself through anger and hate is perfectly fine, but be mindful of the level of respect you're paying to his parents, the people who knew him, and the police officers involved in the horrific case when you repeatedly note how wrong or non-sensical they all are to you.

Well Since "Mental Health" excuse was brought up for killing 5 people in cold blood, then Gun Control discussion is very relevant discussion in this circumstance.

If Hand Gun's and Long Arms were widely available in Canada and easy to obtain, then all these "mental health" murderers could kill more people in their time of 'psychosis'

Never was a fan of Gun Control or the Debate.

But hearing about these senseless murders committed by "temporary insane people' make me glad we have some sort of restraint on access to guns.

Am I the only one who thinks some of the people in this thread have some mental issues of their own?

you are quoting everything Zamler says (quoted him 3 times on this page alone) and then getting angry when he responds and claiming he is saying the same thing over and over again. If you don't want to hear more about his point don't quote everything he says. You did the same thing to me last night and that is why I stopped posting, now you are harassing me on PMs. If you don't want to discuss something with someone fine...but don't quote everything they say and be shocked when they have the audacity to respond

if you don't want to hear from me don't quote this

People in this thread have stated they have mental issues that they have been working with, and encouraging others to not be stigmatized and get help if they feel alone and suffer. So no, you aren't the only one who thinks some people in this thread have mental issues, but good on you for posting it in a way that makes fun of those that do.

That is exactly what I was going for. If anyone who has or is struggling with mental illness is offended I with my comment I will remove it.

My comment was tongue in cheek and was not meant to offend. There are some posters here that don't seem to understand that this event has affected many people, some of which are part of the board and that maybe their arguing isn't helpful.

I'm all for having a respectful conversation, there are a lot of things an event like that can bring up, I just find it unfortunate that some people feel the need to argue about right and wrong without knowing even a handful of facts instead of just talking.

The thing to remember is that there is no wrong way to feel, and we don't know the situation. Condemning anyone and passing judgement is a self serving thing to do in this situation, and I hope that anyone reading this thread doesn't take to heart some of the things said by certain people.

I'm almost 100% sure I had a class with him at some point last year -- looks super familiar and we graduated at the same time. A lot of the psych majors took communications courses. I can't pinpoint exactly where but I've seen him before, multiple times, that's the only place it could've been.

Review: Callous remark by Florida Georgia Line crossed the line
Florida Georgia Line make flippant remark about tragedy

http://www.calgaryherald.com/enterta...575/story.html

Early into their set, they open their mouths and, in what’s supposed to be some casual between song banter to show that, yeah, they actually know which town they’re playing in, that they’re in “CALGARY!”, they mention, in vague, terribly awkward terms, a shooting that went on in this city a couple of days ago or something.

Or something.

You came to read a review.

So. With as much thought and effort as they put into that moment, here you go.

Florida Georgia Line were at the Saddledome. They played some songs on stage for a bit. There was sound. There were lights. And there were opening acts.

It was a concert.

Or something.

Most of it was people sitting around a fire, or in the house, etc. Not Animal House.

I do think people get super drunk these days, but I'm not sure you or I have statistics to determine just -how- drunk people get. On top of that, the person who did the killing was sober. Honestly I feel this is just re-hashing stuff that you could've already had read and explained in this thread.
I was responding to someone's post (post that I quoted and even bolded his comment) comparing the fights at the party back then and compare to now. That first phrase has NOTHING TO DO with this incident so I don't need statistics to back it up.

The party back then ...people get super drunk just like in some party... passing out, puking all over the places and everything. Yes there was some fights but it's very rare that you hear people get stabbed. Maybe someone hit the guy with something I don't know.

As I mentioned earlier on this message, I DID NOT mention that the suspect was even drunk at all. Dude, before you accused me of something, please go back and read my post again. The only thing I mentioned something in regards to that incident was on second paragraph where I mentioned...i heard he went straight from work blah...blah..and didn't pretend I know what happenned. Chill dude!! I was not at the party and did not witness the incident therefore I did not make any judgment on what happened. I don't even know any of the victims or the suspect.
