As I said before, mr NEGATIVE.
Gaudreau’s current NHLE sits in a comparable class with Patrick Kane, Brett Hull, Eric Lindros, Theo Fleury, Joe Sakic, Ray Whitney, Sidney Crosby and many other notable players from the last 30 years.
Obviously it’s a different game from when most of those players reached the 60+ NHLE.
In fact, there’s only been four players to reach the mark in the past 15 years, which likely means the lower leagues likely had different translation factors back in the day. Therefore, hitting the 60+ NHLE mark in today’s modern era is all that more impressive.
Those 4 are P. Kane 62 - Crosby 67 - Malkin 69 - Kovalchuk 77 // Gaudreau 68
ALSO of the 25+ people that have recorded 60+ NHLE All but ONE have gone to be SUPERSTARS.

I can understand why at a surface level it seems like he's pretty unassuming and nothing to get hyped up about, that is additionally part of the reason why he is exciting.
You're probably quite wrong with the 99% of people not watching him thing, the frozen four thread this year had a lot of people watching including myself and all the feedback is good, the guy is a good player.
I wouldn't be willing to bet that he is in the line-up next year for the whole season but probably the one after that. Even other Flames players and coaches have commented on his abilities in ways that aren't really heard of for a lot of our other prospects.
Also, his draft position should have no bearing on people's opinion of the guy at this point, the guy is where he is now and has progressed over the last few years before anyone was sure he'd even make it in college.

We do celebrate wins and when we get to the playoffs we'll be celebrating those too.
Do you realize this is year 1 of a rebuild, we've just exceeded expectations, our team is working hard every night and is competitive every night despite a depleted lineup AND we just signed 2 more of our prospects that could turn into solid players.

I'm pretty sure a ton of CPers were watching his game yesterday. Apparently you weren't or you wouldn't be a big doofus right now.

There are a good number of posters on CP that have actually seen him play. There were quite a few game threads for some of BC's nationally televised games. There have also been quite a few games streamed online for free. Also a good number of posters attended the prospect camp and were able to get a feel for the level of talent he has.
There was also that little World Junior Hockey Championship thing a year ago. Heard he did pretty good there too

Probably the most exciting player I've seen play. Don't know anyone ever in my lifetime that has come through the Flames organization where everytime he touched the puck you thought it could end up in the net.
Don't worry, you'll come around to being excited about him too. In 3-4 years there will be no questioning his skill out there. This is the first time he might show growing pains, and as an optimist I really hope he does what he has done in every level before; prove everyone wrong.

Yes. The hype is out of control right now. The Flames are going to be much improved much sooner because of the other legitimate prospects we have, and players we've been patiently developing. - Monahan. Baertschi. Backlund. The top draft pick this year.
I hope Gaudreau is a massive player for the Flames. I am just pointing out my reservations.

I did watch it. And I've seen him play in person. The NCAA's are not the NHL. The game last night was error filled, with soft defending and space that doesn't exist in the NHL. It's why there are so many great NCAA players who are 5'7" and 5'8" but so few in the NHL.

But signing our prospects is just something every team does almost every day. Every prospect should be signed unless something drastically bad has happened.

I'll never understand the mentality of being a twatty little wet blanket. People get excited, so your approach is to try to deflate that excitement?
Just bizarre.
It's hockey, it's entertainment, if you can't get excited about something like this log yourself out and never sign in again.

Man. Enough allready. If you feel that strongly about it create a signature stating he will be in the KHL by 2016.
