I would love it if the Conservatives would give us a reason to vote for a leader rather than just the party. It's not like I need someone as effective as Ralph Klein was when he was at his best, but at least give us a leader that much better than Stelmach and Redford were.

Just please no Ted Morton.

The recommendations are [2014 savings in bold]:

1) Eliminate Associate Ministers and their staff positions and reduce the number of ministers to 16. [$ 6 million]
2) Roll back the pay raise the Redford PCs gave MLAs following the 2012 election. [$885,312]
3) Roll back the massive pay raise provided to cabinet in 2008 and adjust it only for inflation. [$516,439]
4) Cut the size of the Public Affairs Bureau in half. [$10 million]
5) Limit Bonuses for Senior Public Sector Executives and managers. [ $35 million]
6) Limit all future Severance Packages for Government executives and politically appointed staff and executives. [ $5 million]
7) Cut frills and add-ons to the new MLA offices in the Federal Building. [$4 million]
8) Cap annual government travel budget for the Premier, ministers, MLAs and staff to $500,000 per year. [$500,000]
9) Eliminate corporate subsidies. [$450 million]
10) Reduce expenditures on government bureaucracy by 20% within four years and protect current funding for front line workers and services. [$250 million]
11) Implement the Wildrose 10-Year Debt Free Capital Plan which will sustainably and predictably invest $48 billion over 10 years. [$972 million]
12) Implement a rolling 3-year zero-based budgeting program to review all programs and services. [ $100 million]
13) Increase resources to the Auditor General’s Office and focus on value for money audits. [$50 million]
14) Establish a wastebuster program. [$25 million]
15) Use savings to pay down debt.
16) Implement the Wildrose Balanced Budget and Savings Plan

References to voters rejecting "regressive" politics, particular emphasis on "progressive" when she mentioned her party name, etc. Her thrust was as obvious as if she simply came out and said "I hate that bitch Danielle Smith".

Not going to mention some specific problems with some of these but the ones in bold are just variations on "spend less" which is meaningless.

I highly recommend reading this if you want some insight as to the lack of insight that the Wildrose Party has. It may be the most vague "policy" I have ever seen.

Maybe Wildrose supporters shouldn't be directing people towards these policies.

I looked at their site the other day, and this was my favourite.

"Implement our plan for 1 billion dollars!"

At this stage I'm less interested in the actual reasons for the Tories demise than I am that it actually happens. None of the opposition parties in power for a term, including the NDP, would be worse than another 4 years of this tired, entitled regime. Forty years of one party rule is just bad for democracy. Sadly there's enough Calgarians and farmers that are too spooked by change that they will likely be re-elected two years out.

I've always maintained in these threads that you can tell how nervous PC supporters are by how hard they attack Wildrose. Which is funny, since many of the same people are also criticizing Wildrose for attacking the PCs.

In other words, politics as usual!

I'd love to know how wrong I am by being shown a policy breakdown.

I thought Redford was a crook from the time she won the nomination through today. Just turned out the more that came out the more right i was.
