It's beyond stupid, teams can start negotiating with free agents on Saturday but can't agree on a contract until 4:00 PM EST today. Just start the free agency frenzy on Saturday and make things less complicated...however, the NFL does seem to enjoy making things more complicated than they have to be.

Eagles are supposedly in on Revis and Byrd. Not exactly thrilled with this. I'd much rather they build through the draft and ensure they get guys who will buy into the Chippah's system.

Broncos re-sign Andre Caldwell to a two-year deal.

They didn't learn from Asomugha, Samuel and DRC it would seem.

Samuel was signed a few years before the other two and was actually a good pick up. The other two not so much.

5 year, $35 million for Lamar Houston to the Bears?! Say bye Julius Peppers.

Love that these signings are flying in within the first 30 minutes of free agency, really shows the farce that is the "negotiating period".

Colts sign Arthur Jones from the Ravens, fills a big hole at a decent price. But looks like they're losing Davis and Bethea so they will need some serious help at S and CB

Browns:

LB Karlos Dansby - 4 year $24 M
S Donte Whitner - 4 year $28 M

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/inde...ith_the_c.html

In Whitner, the Browns are getting a hard-hitting two-time Pro Bowler, one who has made the all-star squad in each of the past two seasons.

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/inde...nd_browns.html

The Browns are also interested in trading for former Jets and current Tampa Bay cornerback Darrelle Revis, considered the best shutdown corner in the game, according to nfl.com.

Dansby, a second-team All-Pro in 2013, started all 16 games last year, recording 113 tackles, 6.5 sacks, four interceptions -- including two returned for touchdowns -- 19 passes defensed a forced fumble and a recovery.
If the Browns land all three, it would be a blockbuster day for the wheeling and dealing club.

Dolphins sign former Chiefs OT Branden Albert for $46M over five years, $25M guaranteed.

Titans sign former Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster for $12M over three years, $4.5M guaranteed.

Eagles sign Malcolm Jenkins.

Malcolm Jenkins' 3-year deal includes $8.5M in guaranteed money. By comparison Cary Williams' 3-yr deal last year included $10.5M guaranteed

I like that deal. Way better than throwing a tonne of money at Byrd.

Eugene Monroe has re-signed with the Ravens for $37.5 million over 5 years, $19 million guaranteed. That's really cheap for a franchise LT.

Veldheer signs in Arizona for $35M/5. Houston signs in Chicago for $35M/5. Raiders apparently signed Safford (OT) for $42.5M/5.

$66M+ in cap space and you let two great homegrown starters walk.

I think they both wanted out of Oakland. Thank goodness for Cleveland or the Raiders would be unquestionably the worst franchise in the NFL.

Vikings sign DT Linval Joseph, no terms released yet. Perfect signing for the revamped d-line.

Also, the Cowboys officially cut DeMarcus Ware. That's some real fine cap management, Jerry.

49ers have 11 draft picks this year, so spending an 11th on him isn't too bad. He is expected to be the backup or at least make a good competition with McCoy for backup.

Whitner is slowing down but he still hits like a mac truck. I'm not sure how I feel about seeing him go to the Browns. He was a very good locker room guy and great with the media.

They re-signed Davis to a 4 year deal for huge money. He was the best cornerback on the team last year and he better play like that (and better next year). I like Davis, a solid CB but money is a little high (4 year/39 M).

Colts also re-signed Vinatieri to a 2 year deal (love the move). In terms of Jones, I like that signing. He knows coach Pagano very well from Baltimore. A good fit. Colts also re-signed Ahmad Bradshaw (which is interesting because Vick Ballard and Trent Richardson are on the roster as well). and Sergio Brown.

Indy is still talking to Eric Decker and Hakeem Nicks as well. Interesting.
