Yup, used to be a programmer. Now just work in I.T. I'm strictly speaking of date format for visual representation, not for data storage.
As in, I"m sure it's stored as in your pic above, but visually as you can see:

Good point. I forgot that was actually how I label my digital photos to make them easier to organize.

People say a lot of things a lot of different ways, but that doesn't mean it is the best way for a written format. YYYY-MM-DD is unambiguous and really is the best way for sorting numbers on a computer. And as Shawnski mentioned, you can append to it. That's why it is an international standard.
It simply makes a lot more sense than the argument "that's how we say it."

I'd give you a firm date, but it could be interpreted as months or years from now depending on which way you read it.

As strombad said, that's how most everyone actually says it when they speak.

When I interview clients I have to ask birth dates, wedding dates etc. It screws me up when they don't say it m/d/y.

I use dd/mm/yyyy, but only because the main app I use for my consulting does. I personally dislike it.

I used to use mm-dd-yyyy, but lately I've been using yyyy-mm-dd more because that format sorts the best.

Aside from all this date talk, one thing that RGMG is wearing sunglasses inside.
It's not about those lenses that change colour (those are stupid too, but I see you're trying to kill two birds with one stone), it's not about leaving them on as you walk in the door, no.
It's the people who are deep inside a mall (or whatever), shopping at Sportchek (or whatever), and rocking their dumb looking Oakleys (or whatever). If you're inside, just take your sunglasses OFF. It's not hard. Put them in your case, in your pocket, on top of your head, around your neck, WHATEVER. If you're rocking sunglasses when sunlight is not a factor, 90+% of the people around you think you look stupid.
Are there people who do it here? Why do you do it? If it's convenience then surely you can't be THAT lazy can you?

My buddy does this but it's because he has prescription sunglasses and he forgets his regular glasses at home. That's what I assume for most people now, that or they are high.

Agreed and I will also add those people that seem to think they are an anytime fashion item. I see people in the evening, hell night, wearing them on their head or the classic ball cap with sunglasses on top of the hat. I see them out at hockey games in the evening....What is wrong with these people?
Oh and before anyone posts his video or pouty face, Cory Hart and his lame ass song sucks, it sucked when it came out it sucks now.

Yeah, I'm guilty of this, and I'm totally aware that I look like an idiot when I'm wearing my sunglasses inside; but I'd look like more of an idiot if I was walking around the store bumping into things and holding them 3 inches from my face to read.

Ha, I do this and feel like a tool. I have prescription sunglasses. Sometimes I forget to change them until I get in the mall and realize that it's suddenly dark. It sucks, but I don't want to go back to my vehicle to get my regular glasses. The worst is in the summer and I show up at work with them on.

You Know What Really Grinds My Gears....The Sequel!
Haha I'm glad for a lot of people it's the prescription situation. My wife has done it once or twice, with full-on ridicule from me, but at least I kind of GET that part.
The whole overcast/night/indoors for hours thing is just unreasonable though. If you're in your teens I get it, you think you probably look cool, but when you're 30+ it's just awful!

When I forget my glasses in the car and have to wear my sunglasses indoors I usually preface every conversation with "I'm not a ######bag. These are prescription and I can't see without them." followed by a lifting of the glasses and a squinty look.

some people have a hard time with any kind of light. My mom wears her shades everywhere because of this.
