I think we need to consider the fact as well that Kulak is producing with a far far far weaker team than Culkin. They both play huge minutes, but Kulak is doing it with far less support throughout the whole team.

Kanzig has an assist so far as the Royals are up 4-2 vs Edmonton.

No other Flames prospect in action today - Gordon and Klimchuk are still sidelined.

Does anyone actually know what injury Klimchuck's has?

Hopefully the Fan 960 interviews him tomorrow.

Interesting fact with Kanzig - despite now having only 4 points this season, he's leading his team in plus/minus, and is 16th in the WHL.

That's a really good sign. He was a -10 last season. I haven't seen him play and I know +/- is not a reliable stat but looks like he up his defensive play considerably this season. I wonder if he has a chance to play in the AHL next season? Though another year in junior wouldn't hurt.

One last NCAA game before Christmas tonight, and it features Providence playing without Jon Gillies.

The Friars are visiting West Point, to play Army, at 5:00pm MT.

Funny that their board advertising is mostly defense contractors.

BC played Army earlier in the season and defeated them 11-0, in a game where both Gaudreau and Arnold had 4 points. Hopefully the Flames picks in this game can light them up too.

This is the Friars' first game since the Feaster/Wiesbrod firings. I wonder if Jankowski will be extra motivated to show the new boss that he wasn't a wasted pick?

After a scoreless first, Providence has scored early in the second. Jankowski with the assist on the goal.

Providence takes an early penalty to start the third, and score twice on the PK.

No assists yet on Game Tracker (they often take a while to add the assists) but the Friars' Twitter account says Janko should get an assist on their second goal, which would put him at 11 points (7G/4A) in 17 games and a tie for third in team scoring (he is still second in goals).

Score is 3-0 about 7 minutes into the third.

Providence wins 4-1.

As of now, Jankowski with only the first assist. Both of the SH goals are listed as unassisted, so it's possible another assist could be added.

Janko: 1A, +2, 3 shots, 8 for 16 in the dot
Gilmour: +1, 5 shots
Gillies: In Sweden

Poirier has a goal so far. Gatineau and Rouyn-Noranda are tied 4-4 midway through the 3rd.

Culkin had an assist as Quebec and Shawinigan are tied 3-3 after overtime, heading to the shootout.

Jankowski has now been given the assist on Providence's second goal: http://www.collegehockeystats.net/13...s/marmprv1.d20

11 points in 17 games (0.65 PPG). Second in team goals, tied for fourth in team points (only 2 points back of second).

Here's a good story on Olivier Roy: http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/...121/story.html

When he first saw he was getting a call from MacTavish, he thought he was getting called up to the Oilers. Imagine his shock when he found out that not only had he been traded, but the Flames were sending him to Alaska. After a rocky start with 4 losses in his first 5 games, he has now won 5 of his last 6.

It would be nice if Burke could move MacDonald and clear some room for Roy in Abbotsford (although, I think he likely ends up somewhere else next season, assuming Gillies turns pro).

In other ECHL news, the Oilers sent Brossoit down to Bakersfield on Wednesday. He got a shutout in his first game back in the ECHL, and now has a shutout in 3 straight ECHL games. The first two shutouts were against Bakersfield when he was in Alaska. Brossoit has struggled in the AHL so far this season, putting up a 2-4 record and three straight losses with OKC before the demotion.

It would be nice to have Roy an opportunity to work with Sigalet for a while. Perhaps that is why he has yet to really develop since turning pro - lack of good coaching? Perhaps he just isn't a good prospect? I think I am leaning more towards the latter, but would be nice to see the Flames give him as much of an opportunity as they can for development.

Tough to do now. Brossoit was looked like a really decent prospect for the Flames, so alternating him and Ortio made sense. Now you really can't make too much of a case for alternating Ortio. This will probably be the case until Flames make a goalie trade (hopefully involving MacDonald), but would have to sign someone from the ECHL if they want to move up Roy to see what they have in Roy, and see how he improves (or doesn't) with improved coaching.

I didn't see this posted anywhere else...a little write up on Klimchuk. I like the quote about him being 18 going on 25.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=6...d=nhl:topheads

Apparently he's expected to return to the Pats lineup after Christmas which would be nice to see.
