Sorta see where you are coming from, but it's not like the original Kinect didn't sell a metric crapton. They've sold 30 million of them and developers haven't made anything of interest gaming wise . . . maybe Dance Central for some? It'll be interesting to see if they do end up pushing a kinectless console in 2014 - like dino7c pointed out, it's not really necessary.

To be honest, Microsoft's vision of next generation gaming hasn't been too appealing to me so far - just a short time ago they wanted to shove some rather silly DRM policies down our throats. Their hardware is apparently weaker/pushing a lower resolution for all the common games (AC4, COD, and BF4). Not sure I like the IAP that are in these launch games either.
But hey, there is another 8 years to go in this generation? However, I do like them bring back Killer Instinct back - even with such a limited roster.

Ha ha. Guys I like my PS4 too don't get me wrong but I just don't understand why you guys are beating on XB1 for not being a stripper of a console like its main competitor. I like that they haven't gone full Nintendo and isolated themselves yet have delivered something that's not just an Xbox 360 with faster processors. It's obvious for some of you in this thread (dino7c, OutoftheCube, chemgear, etc) the PS4 is the console that is going to make you happy but you aren't everyone and I think there's a market for what Microsoft is doing and oh yeah some of these launch games are pretty good as well just as good or better than anything the PS4 has at the moment so as a straight gaming machine it does that pretty well.

Actually both Sony and Microsoft are developing VR headsets to work with this gen's consoles. Something like that is the future of gaming, not the Kinect/Sony camera.

Also not long ago you called out another poster saying his posts were pro-Sony and to cut the fan boy stuff. I can't help but notice in your last couple of posts you seem to really be laying on some Microsoft bias.

Did you see the picture I posted showing both consoles? The reason I am laying on what you consider is Microsoft bias is that this thread has been heavily polluted by a small group of pro-Sony fanboys to which I'm trying to balance out seeing as I own both and don't have any personal biases. I keep hearing the same people say the same stuff like; "motion controls aren't for me", "I don't like where Microsoft is going", etc and it's like how many times are you going to post the same thing over and over in this thread?

So just because you have both consoles means you are exempt from being a hypocrite? I think it's pretty funny how you can call out the obviously pro-Sony posters for showing their bias, and then a page or two later go all pro-Microsoft. Doesn't Chemgear have both consoles as well?

Maybe I fall into a different camp but I get all my "hardcore" gaming experiences on my PC these days. What I am looking for in a console are two things. Exclusives and non-gaming features.
If I had to buy a console today it would probably be a Wii:U. There are some really interesting looking games that are currently out and more that will be released over the next few months for that system. If I had to pick in terms of the PS4/One I'd probably buy an Xbone just because I am such a huge Killer Instinct fan. But I am not about to drop $500 to play an unfinished game.
In terms of the PS4, the fact that it doesn't allow you to play multi-media files at this time is a huge knock against the system IMO. I like being able to play a video or music file on my console. I like being able to stream those files directly from my PC. I hope this is something they patch back in.
This is why I'll be waiting a year to pick up these consoles. Hopefully by that time both will have a better selection of exclusives and features (and fingers crossed, a hardware redesign).

Also, hockey and football games, since only basketball, soccer and racing are playable on PC (for whatever reason).

I think they are going to patch it in?
I know people were talking about the internet/social media and how we hear more about problems with the consoles, but it sure seems like public backlash had some good this time around.

I have both current gen consoles, and am probably buying a ps4 first. I may eventually end up with both. I am a little biased. Mostly because Xbox made me pay for live (even if it was just for Netflix), and buy an extra cord to plug in my HDMI cord and headset at the same time. Just seemed like they were nickel and diming me wherever they could. I understand that both consoles now require payment for online. My ps3 also seemed to run smoother than my xbox. Also, I have read it sounds like the graphics are a little bit better on the ps4 and they are really trying to catch the hardcore gamer market. Plus I love what Naughtydog makes, the Uncharted series is awesome, and The Last Of Us is in contention for being my favorite game ever played. Only problem is that a bunch of by friends are getting the xbox. Playing multiplayer games alone is never the same.

I just find it completely unacceptable that this $400 machine can't play a video file. That's a total regression from what the PS3 is capable of doing. Usually when a new piece of technology is released it expands and adds onto it's existing set of features not take them away.
Edit. Apparently the One doesn't do this either. WTF? I see that it still supports video streaming from a PC in a very crude, roundabout way. But this is major fail on both Sony and Microsoft in my mind.

I'm probably in the minority but it doesn't affect me, in all the years I have had my 360 I have never used it for anything other than gaming and I don't plan on using the PS4 any differently.

Now that I have had a chance to play with all 3 consoles of the new gen, thought I'd give my thoughts. (including Wii U now that it can be compared)
Wii U: I had to actually clean this console of all the dust it gathered in the last few months. However, after popping in the new Super Mario 3D world, I remembered why it is so easy to love Nintendo. The game looks fantastic, and after putting in some playing time, this may be one of my favorite Mario games in years.
3rd party support sucks, but it is the cheapest console option. With games like Donkey Kong, Super Smash Bros, Zelda and Mario Kart on the horizon, and a small backlog of games like Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros and Zombi U, this is a very underrated system for the price. The lack of power may turn some off, but so far, the Wii U has actually provided some of the most awesome looking games of the new Gen with Mario and Pikmin.
PS4: The new Sony system just feels like a powerful next-gen. Love the design, love how small it is and really dig the controller. The only issue right now is games. Killzone is not a console seller and everything else can be found on PC or Xbox (or previous gen) Huge potential, but not a day 1 purchase.
Xbone - Could they have made this any heavier or more awkward? Kidding aside, this is a complicated console. It is huge, has a large power brick, you can plug your TV HDMI (or anything) into it and it also has a camera and voice control. The games I played were solid, Ryse was a ton of fun, and KI, while unpolished/unfinished, was also a blast to play.
The voice commands can be hit or miss, but I do like the TV snap feature. (Having the Grey cup in the corner, while playing KI on-line was amazing). Nothing here that can't be fixed with software updates.
Can't wait to see these consoles evolve following the next round of games.

It's all about games for me. All my favorite developers are Sony Worldwide Studios teams, because they've made all my favorite games. Naughty Dog, Media Molecule, Sucker Punch... it doesn't matter if they don't have anything out at launch, those companies will each make 2-4 games during the system's lifetime that will be must-haves for me. Couple that with a few surprises (it looks like Ready at Dawn might be ready to make a big leap forward) and it's never been a contest. PS4 will have the most games that appeal to me, just like PS3 and PS2 did before it.
Oh, and the Wii U. Love my Mario/Donkey Kong

Actually it does because I have $400 in reasons invested in my PS4 for something that I according to you I may dislike. Maybe Chemgear does own both but I'm skeptic because he has a trail in this thread if you follow that he never posts any news the puts Sony in a bad light but is always posting any Microsoft update and highlighting it. I'm not an idiot and I can see his slant and anyone that goes through this thread can also as I know there are some smart posters here that can see through that stuff. The reason I can call out the pro-Sony posters is just as you said in that they are so obvious and I'm not the only person that's noticed. I don't see many if any XB1 fans always calling out the PS4 but lots the other way and if you don't see that then I don't know what else I can say.
I like my PS4. I like how it boots up fast and I like that it's menu is very simple and intuitive as I still find the XB1 menu cumbersome at the moment. Problem is that I only have two games for it right now and when I'm not playing them I'm not using my PS4. The XB1 on the other hand has been on non-stop since I installed it as there's a lot of neat stuff that I have been playing with like the TV snap feature that is brilliant (We just need Canadian programming added to the menus. Come on Microsoft!). Time will tell if I will get tired of the motion and voice stuff but so far I have no complaints outside of the fact that it feels more like a beta than a fully finished product but I am sure that in time it will become more polished.

Turning on the Xbox, TV, and stereo with one voice command is seriously cool. I have actually found the voice commands quite useful for the most part. It can be a bit finicky at times though.

I only have two Directv boxes in my house. One is in the bedroom and the other is living room. My game room/reloading room/gym doesn't have a DirecTv box so that wouldn't work for me.
I can't justify the extra $5 a month for another box since I watch all the games on the bigscreen in the living room.

I never said you don't like the PS4, my comments have been about you giving other posters a hard time about bias PS4 comments and then doing the exact same thing with some of your bias Microsoft comments. Don't get me wrong, not all of your posts have been bias but when you throw out comments like this...

What is XB1 going to offer that will move gaming forward that the PS4 can't also do? I think most of the things that Microsoft will offer aren't gaming related but will be related to their "owning the livingroom". PS4 has been out just over a week and Xbox 4 days, I think it's a little early to say that PS4 owners have nothing to look forward to.
You call out posters about flooding the thread with anti-microsoft information, so why not post positive Microsoft information instead of just making a silly comment with nothing to back it up? I posted a link about the VR head sets that both companies are working on for use with this generation of consoles, that is more constructive than making an unsubstatiated claim just to even out the fan boy score.
In the 8(?) years 360/PS3 were out, other than the addition of better graphics and bigger games (which is what this new generation of consoles is going to add) what did Sony/Microsoft do that moved gaming foward? Motion gaming? All the dance game fans thank them for that! What has PC added to gaming other than top of the line graphics and to a limited extent Oculus Rift? My point is that when it comes down to it the whole point of the "future" of gaming has always been bigger games and better graphics, and the gimicks just don't stick (virtual boy anyone?).
Yes Microsoft has other non-gaming things going for it but some of us really just don't care about that. The reason you sound anti-PS4 is because you say that you're tired of people saying they don't care about motion controls, or plugging their cable box into their Xbox because it's a valid point for some people.
