I personally think if he was going to play in Abbortsford and the Flames believed that would be the best for his development then he'd be there.

He is a rookie still he is going to be sat even now and then he is going to get 15 + minutes some games and then not. He is a player just listening to his invterviews or reading them that seems to very hard on himself and the article you posted proves that.

Actually you've said more then that, you've said things that people are laughing at and you seem to be assigning arguments to people to make yourself feel better about how foolish you're looking. People would be upset if Sven gets put down with the Heat but they were last year, we'll get over it and when/if he develops into a legit player we'll all be fine with it.

You've been over the top in this discussion, saying things that literally make no sense whatsoever. I honestly question if you've been watching the games because it seems like you're just drawing conclusions from the stat line. I'll say it again, Baertschi had a great game two nights ago but it wasn't because of his one assist.

You'd know that too, if you watched the game.

Ok... I admit that sometimes I get carried away trying to defend my position and say stuff that's over the top...

... and I will admit that Baertschi played well last night however he still wasn't able to finish (as in score a goal) but then again a lot of other Flames were in that boat.

Look.. unlike what some of you may think, I like Sven. The kid definitely has talent. I just think that for a lot of games he plays lazy. He floats around the periphery, isn't willing, for the most part, to go to the dirty areas, and when space is getting tight he dishes off the puck instead of fighting through it. When Sven has the puck in front of the goaltender (unless he's 30 ft out), the goaltender is already on the move to block the shot from the open man because chances are Sven's going to pass instead of taking the shot himself.

I was really disappointed in his attitude in pre-season/training camp, also. He thought he was too good to attend rookie camp. He wasn't.

I honestly think the best thing for Sven's development this year would have been to start the year at Abbotsford. Hell, he should have played a complete season in Abbotsford before even being invited to play in Calgary. That, I think, would have been best for his development... IMO.


.... and, Backcheck, Backlund still hasn't really shown me a reason why he shouldn't be traded. He has flashes of inspired play here and there but overall its pretty lackluster. He doesn't have the tools to be an offensive forward and IMO he doesn't have the size, tenacity, or mean streak to be a shut down defensive forward either. He's kinda just in the meh category... but then this talk about Backlund belongs in the other thread.

Liked the goal that Colbourne scored.... but after that goal it was lights out on the couch for me... zzzz.. overall a pretty boring game.

oh... Bouma played well too last night.

It's going to be tough for him to bounce back when he's scapegoated by the coach for team struggles more than not. Sending him to Abbotsford and getting him far away from Hartley is probably the best thing for Sven. Just let him have a good season down there and when Hartley gets fired hopefully the next Flames head coach doesn't play favourites.

I get he makes mistakes but to constantly single him out for a piss poor system he's teaching is a joke.

Guy like Glencross early in the year was a mess, not scratched. Cammi right now is a mess. Colborne has had some bad games. Gaffes by Butler? some pathetic stuff by Berra but 8 straight starts? McGratton doesn't need to play against everyone, there are soft teams on the schedule but he plays every game.

This coach is a joke. I feel bad for Sven, how would you feel if you're every mistake was singled out by your boss while others got a free pass.

I hope the team keeps getting embarrassed and he loses the room (if he hasn't already).

Keenan was known to be one of those guys that had his favourites but I've never seen anything like this from a Flames head coach before with the favourites game. This is what happens when the GM gets to hire his buddy. No accountability.

I've been a big supporter of Sven, but he hasn't been good enough. Knocked off the puck too easily and really not much else. I'm not surprised he's not playing tonight really.
