He should have followed the Pump-up song answer with "Mom's Spaghetti" for food to cook. Come on Colborne.

That's what I thought at first too, but after looking up his salary, it really doesn't help them at all. Assuming they go with a full 23 man roster, Colborne's $600,000 salary will just be replaced by whoever takes his spot.

Low risk, potential medium reward.
Could be the next Jell Halpern if we're lucky.

Will move up to a 3rd round pick if certain conditions are met, one of which are the Flames making the playoffs.

So it'll be a 4th round pick.
Nice to see the Flames media are as optimistic as I am!

my thoughts:
+ big
+ young
+ Calgary native
- Nemisz syndrome: big yet soft, serious skating issues
- not skilled enough for the top 6 role, not physical enough for the bottom 6 role
- with our abundance of forwards, why trading away picks ?

Yeah, they can't go with a 23 man roster, they've already said they won't. What this does is get them under the cap with a 22 man roster and not having to lose Colborne to waivers.
The Flames with Darryl, often went with a 22 man roster and except for when they ran into serious injuries late in that one season, it worked.

Erm, yeah. There's nothing wrong with Colbornes skating.
I would imagine you are the type of person that feels that Joe Thorton is soft?
Not saying he is Joe Thorton, but he uses his body to protect the puck, not to hit people.
Hitting is over rated.

Does anyone else get tired of this crap? Teams more or less run 3 scoring lines now, so players like Colborne can easily play on the 3rd line.

Here's a little background on Colborne.
He had wrist surgery this summer so should be good to go.

This is VERY encouraging. I know a guy who used to train Joe and he told me that "Joe is done because of his wrist." If Joe's wrist surgery brings his wrist back to full strength then the Flames could have a great player with size. I read on here that his preseason was meh, but who knows what a change of scenery may do for him. Hopefully his healthy wrist and change of scenery develop him into the player many thought he would be.

waking up to a Flames trade is always exciting
can't see anything wrong with this one. Giving up a 4th for one of the better Leafs prospects (Pronman had him at #2, HF at #3 for example) without having to eat a contract like the one of Liles? Hell yeah. Feaster has been fantastic on the trade market since publicly accepting that we're rebuilding.

Multiple scouting reports suggest hockey sense & playmaking are his strengths, so no wonder Feaster & Weisbrod would be interested. Burke vouching for him is an added bonus. Considering he was hampered by this wrist injury I don't see any reason why he couldn't reach his potential as a 2nd-line centre.

He needs to get 10 goals or 35 points and Flames make the playoffs for it to becomes 3rd round pick.

Vouching. Burke doesn't vouch, he takes over. So it begins.
