Amateur he is.
He is no Victor Wanyama, but really who is the world could live up to his superstar play.

Ferdinand at fault for West Brom's second goal as well. Leaves his man in acres of space, then fails to close him down quickly enough to stop the shot. Well worked goal, but Ferdinand is clearly being shown up without Vidic next to him to babysit.

it was pretty clearly a joke, they got a manager fired last week after their game and all the names got brought up again
United's brass aren't Avramovich

I wouldnt call him amateur, but Rio is well past his best. Look at the game against City, more often than not there is a dejected looking Rio whose feet are planted on the ground when he should be attacking a cross or tracking his man.

I'm going to respond to this out of curiosity.
I ask this question in all sincerity given your history of posting in this thread.
Are you deliberately trolling, new to the game, or just ...... plain dumb?
On the decline Ferdinand might well be, at the twilight of his career he might well be, fatigued having been mismanaged (imo) since the start of the season he might be. But an amateur he most definitely is not as evidenced by his numerous team and individual awards, of which one of the most most recent being selection to the PFA team of the year by his peers LAST season.
Furthermore, let me help you out a bit in advance to help you avoid making a further fool of yourself. Sometime in the near future you might see a grey haired man running around in an United jersey with a #11 on his back. He might look a bit off the pace and at times a bit lost and struggling to keep up. This does not necessarily infer that he is an amateur, even though it might be the first time you have seen him play.
That you call him an amateur AFTER the season he had last year where he was arguably one of the best in the league suggests newness, trollness or dumbness. Which one is it?
And, no. I do not want a play by play account of his game today. I'm not arguing that he was good, nor am I arguing that he is not in decline. What is worrying though is the amount of games he's played since the start of the season when Fergie himself stated how carefully he had to be managed.

Anyways .... that's a terrible result.
Anderson didn't look good as usual. Nani looked great. What is worrying though is the inability to score goals from open play.

Wanyama has been great so far for Southampton. Another dominating performance today.
Southampton are a great team to watch, this Osvaldo fella is a great striker. He reminds me of Luis Suarez quite a bit, he's always looking for the extra edge.

Wanyama is a great athlete, on the ball he has been horrible
players like that have a role, but the difference in space in the SPL vs the PL is showing in his lack of passing ability

Now, I realize that Southampton are off to a flying start and his passing stats won't be nearly as impressive by the end of the season, but a pass completion rate of 86.2% in the opponent's half so far this season is pretty incredible, especially considering the opposition that he has faced so far.

Does anyone know if the Everton/Newcastle match is being televised here in Calgary on Monday? I don't see it on my television listings.

He has 2 Key passes all season, 12th on the Saints, so any passes in the final third are sideways
He gets dispossessed as much as the forwards on the team, for a DM that's really bad
His total passing at 81%

A ball-playing midfielder, Wanyama certainly is not, and if Pochettino hopes to add some creative spark to a gritty central midfield pairing, the Argentine would perhaps be wise to lift Wanyama out of the side for easier matches.
|
Quote:
Victor Wanyama spent 50% of his time against Liverpool, either sat on the edge of the penalty area, or making his way up to the half-way line to aid pressing, and while this gives solidity, the Kenyan offers no encouragement that he can deliver a telling pass from this area of the field.
