Need Monahan and Baertschi to step it up tonight. Outshine the Canucks top kids. I especially want to see Sean look a step ahead of Bo. (even more than Shink vs Poirier)

Sieloff and Kanzig should show them who's boss out there.

If we're to lose tonight, I think it would be on the shoulders of Ortio. Hopefully he can take a page out of Brossoit's book, and just be steady back there.

I really don't see the big deal between Shinkaruk and Poirier. Nor Horvat and Monahan.

From what I see, the Canucks fanbase is blowing it up out of proportion and trying to drive a story that just isn't there, even if it was a quote from Shinkaruk himself. The Canucks passed on Lucic, even after he played for the Vancouver Giants. So what?

Poirier has already shown glimpses of why he was chosen by the Flames at his positon in the draft.

A non-issue if you ask me.

It's so beautiful to see GDTs on the board again.

So excited for this game tonight!

I wonder if the Ferland/Granlund combo was purposefully put together to try and see if Ferland would recognize his potential. Because Feaster talked about the coaching staff trying to get Ferland to see how important and unique a player he truly is. Maybe by putting Ferland with a player of Granlund's offensive ability it showed him that he can keep up offensively as well as mix it up physically.

Just a thought.

They didn't pass on Lucic they traded their second round pick away for 4 awful games of Mika Noronen.

Shinkaruk was passed on by his hometown team well after his projected range in the draft and was picked up by a rival team. That will be a story for a long time and Poirier will be compared to him as result.

Monahan vs. Horvat? No story there. Horvat was a bit of a reach pick, so the guys he'll likely be compared to are the guys that were picked after him (particularly Domi and Nichushkin).

If the Canucks had the Flames' draft positions, I highly doubt they'd have picked Horvat, but they might have picked Shinkaruk at 22.

It probably won't be there until the game starts. That's when it was there yesterday.

It'll be the first screen in the slideshow on the front page once the game is about to start.

Wasn't overly impressed with Shinkaruk during the canucks development camp. Looked like a small guy trying to play a big man's game. Got squeezed off the puck a lot and lost a lot of board battles. Never saw the offensive flair he was totted for.

Horvat looked good, played the whole 200ft and that is what will get him to the show sooner rather than later (plus the canucks complete lack of center depth). Don't think he will score right away but he can skate and has size.

I'm interested in the goalie, Erikkson. he is suppose to start the season as the backup as I think lack is still injured. He did not look good to me. Typically European goalie on north american ice, bad rebounds and angles.

Canucks will have two D men that more than likely will be in the NHL to star the season. Carrido for sure and I can't remember the other guys name but he is an older Swedish player I beleive. Interested to see what The Flames forwards can do against these guys, good challenge.

Put kids to bed, crack a few beers and watch some Flames hockey. Awesome.

Sorry, broken record here but I just discovered this work-around 2 days ago. Download Puffin (a free browser), it allows any site that has flash-player to play on an iOS device.

Lots of flames jerseys here.

So when I got to the ticket booth, the lady had two tickets ready. I said "for one please" and she looked at me and said "here you go. Don't worry about it" and wouldn't take payment. Should I feel shame?
