I agree the Ovechkin will also be a great player throughout his career like he already is and it's a solid pick right now.

I'm just not liking all these players from our era getting snagged up early on. Picking last sucks.

^ Better to pick last than like 5th or 6th I'd say. The first four are pretty much locks on everyone's lists; after that you could pretty much go in any direction. I don't even like Bobby Orr all the much, but I was in a position where I pretty much had to take him, or be ridiculed for taking someone else too early.

I just meant that picking last sucks because you wait for so long to make your pick and then you make your picks and then have to wait for so long again.

No he doesn't. At the same age Gretzky had something like 675 goals in comparison to Ovechkin's 370

Ovi is the better goal scorer, Crosby is the better player.

Yes and Gretzky dramatically slowed down during the second half of his career. If Ovechkin plays 13 more seasons he would just need to average about 40 goals per year to beat that record. It's a shame he missed one and a half seasons because of lockouts, or else he'd be that much closer to topping it.

Has a player ever averaged 40 goals from the age of 28-41?

Also Gretzky also missed half a season.

He missed half a season when his goal totals were way down (11 goals in 48 games). So Gretzky would have lost what, 9 goals because of the lockout? Ovechkin probably lost 25-30 this year alone, and another 30-40 in his rookie season.

Also Phil Esposito scored 516 goals in 12 seasons after the age of 28 (barely playing the last season), so yes it has been done before.

There was about a 1 in a million chance that that was going to happen. I'm glad that i at least got one of the d-men i wanted this time around.

I got him 55th overall last time around, so there was a chance it might of happened again. Dunno if I would have taken him over Chelios or not. I see a lot of people regard Chelios as a better player than both Pronger and Stevens. Sort of surprising to me, but I didn't see him play during his time in Montreal, whereas most of us saw Stevens and Pronger at their best.

I was going to take Pronger if he made it to my pick. Both Chelios and Shore where by back-up options. Thanks for making the choice easier for me

I took Stevens over Chelios simply because of the physical element that he brought to a game. He would strike fear into the hearts of any skilled player coming into the zone. Chelios and Stevens have very similiar stats. Pronger had a third of the points that both Chelios and Steven put up in their careers, and certainly didn't have the longevity.
