Lol, this is the best "jump to conclusions" thread I've seen in a while. Both sides are doing the exact same thing.

"Woah, let's not jump to conclusions here, the cop probably acted properly, and had reasons for what he did."

"Hey now, let's not jump to conclusions and say there might be more to the story, this woman probably didn't do anything to deserve it."

I don't know why we have to have these extremes on CP when it comes to cops. And it's always the same posters on the same sides. Like I can look at the usernames in this thread and not even read the posts and know who's going to be defending the cop and calling out the lady and who will be doing the opposite.

Personally I like my style the best (who would have thought), it's how I was raised. Question everything the cops do and don't give them the benefit of the doubt, because there are bad apples, and they have some of the highest power in the land, and the ability to change peoples lives for better or worse.

But I respect the hell out of them, and really appreciate everything they do for us as a society. I would put Canadian, and specifically Calgary cops up against any law enforcement agency in the world. But that doesn't mean I'll read any news story and go "Yeah, I'll go with the cop on this one, dude probably deserved whatever he got for whatever he did, cops do no wrong".

Those pictures of her face look pretty rough. I have no idea what happened, but that face doesn't like a case of "she fell down and hit her head".

I agree, it looks rough, but I don't think they really say anything about how she fell.

I mean, it doesn't conclusively look like she was hit repeatedly as her facial injuries could have easily been caused by a single fall and the kind of scraping that would be expected if you were struggling while being scuffed.

Hold on flameswin, I think you're jumping to conclusions about how great this "jump to conclusions" thread is. I think there are probably better ones out there.

They do not have the power to enforce any provincial or federal law. As mentioned in a post above, they can enforce provincial traffic laws and apprehend people on outstanding warrants. They can only assist police officers on impaired cases, as that is a criminal code offence.

And they are given a gun because traffic stops are one of the most dangerous parts of an officers job, and that's basically what they do all day.

I dont get it,

She was pulled over for speeding and didnt have the window rolled down when the cop went to take her ID and insurance? So he knocks on her window so she will roll it down and then she has the audacity to say I wont hand you my information until you stop knocking on my window.

Who doesnt have the window already rolled down with their insurance and license ready when they are pulled over for a speeding ticket.

What a flying CarpetUNT who thinks she is above the normal protocol of life.

I wouldn't, just because you have a license to be a doctor doesn't mean that your integrity meter is suddenly set at a natural higher point.

I would like have my window rolled down, or at least be in the process as the officer is approaching. I wouldn't pull out my license and registration until they ask for it. Perhaps the officer is just kindly telling me that my tire is low, or something of that sort. I also don't want to make the officer leary of what I am doing in my car as he/she approaches. They can assume I'm reaching into my glove box to get the insurance and registration, or they can assume I'm reaching for a weapon and as a result be a bit on edge. I'll wait until they are right at my window so they can have a clear line of sight of what I'm doing. In the two times I've been pulled over, that approach didn't cause me any problems.

Well if we're talking about our personal beliefs, I personally would put a dentist somewhere above a chiropractor and a lawyer, but below an actual medical doctor on the honesty and integrity scale. Not sure why it matters, really.

One of the most dangerous and scary things a police officer does is a traffic stop. You NEVER know what you are going to get.

To make the experience more pleasant for everyone, when pulled over, roll the window down, then sit in your seat with both hands visibly on the wheel until the officer starts giving directions.

It doesn't matter but pinner always needs to get his words in because he holds a grudge from the time he was ridiculed about the 4 way stop sign debacle and has held a grudge ever since. He needs to grow up and let that go.

As you noticed I also said it was my personal belief and did not care if Captain Crunch or pinner felt the opposite.
