Well Walker was right on one account, there was a rumor floating around that they said Bozak to Calgary was a done deal.

The Raymond stuff though is legitimate, likely got warned by the Flames that they shouldn't be saying this as it can get them in trouble. They do need to try to protect that relationship with the team.

A warning was sent out to all the teams today, only bought players are allowed to sign a contract before tomorrow.

I doubt the Flames worry about rumours whether they're true or not.

Watch Walker and Boomer gloat tomorrow if in fact the rumour comes true after denying they even made the claim.

I suspect that Cammy and a couple other players from last year are on the outs.
Really the only reason bringing in yet another LW makes sense. Although it's been said he can play RW. All I know is that the Feaster said himself they're Shopping for centers. I am sure they'll get one tomorrow. The rest is a wait and see.

Steinberg, Loubo and Kerr when he's on are by far the best on the station. I love it when they give Loubo the first hour of the afternoons. He'll go on one of his awesome rants about some young player/s that he knows from "wayyy back" and it's just the best thing on the radio imo.

The morning guys just blurt about rumors to make them sound like more than they are to make the time between interviews/insiders more interesting. I do enjoy it, actually.. I just think it's stupid that they're completely denying the fact that they do it. Why bother? Unless you're suffering from memory loss, you know exactly what was said.

If Raymond indeed comes here, a replacement for Cervenka and/or Backlund (if he goes).

One reason too, he's local...and for the Flames, it takes less of a sell job to have him come back here as a UFA to the area he grew up in....a sell job that's likely a lot harder this year (after last year) to the general available populous among the NHLPA.

Feaster declared open for business at the draft and came out with probably a bit less done that hoped. So onto the UFA class, which he had stated months ago was going to be fairly weak. The draft picks were a positive, as were his nibbling at the edges with SOB, TJ2 and Jones.

With the Flames swinging and missing for Shanahan, missing out on Seguin (if they were ever really close, no matter what a Boston website says), I just think they are looking for a bigger splash to try and sell for next season, as right now there's nothing. I think Cammalleri's value goes up after the first few days of UFA, as teams start looking at different options after missing out on the 1st tier of players, so hopefully Feaster can capitalize on that...however, before that, getting another local player in the fold is a baby step to making changes and changing the makeup of the team with what he's got to work with.

Also, just in general, Feaster likes the allure of potential big moves if his talks around previous FA periods and drafts are indication. Is Raymond a big move? Likely not in the grand scheme, but it may be the biggest one he's got tomorrow and in the first few days, and the fact that he's from here will be played up by the Flames (if he signs here).

Also Flames have to think about Cammy, Stajan, and Stempniak replacements for next season.

Expect the cap to take a huge jump next year and the Flames wont be in a position where they are one of the few teams with cap space.

I enjoy the morning show and i do listen almost every morning. so i don't like hearing these guys thrown under the bus. but what was said was misleading and did deserve it's own thread.
the "we talk sports 4 hours a day" defence is the same one we at CP employ. we wade through rumour and insinuation each day to try and get closer to the action. if it was ecklund it would be prefaced by "this is ecklund so probably bogus" didn't know we had to do that with the fan.
i am not bob mackenzie etc. and the only thing i was "reporting" was that i had heard the fan 960 speculate that a deal was done, and the details all but academic.

just dont see the fit with sven and hudler already in the mix. also jones and galiardi pick ups suggest maybe they want another direction than a mason raymond. I wouldnt be surprised to see Calgs go hard after Filpula, but just dont get the point with mason.

This would be a very nice pickup for the Flames if this is a 2 year $1.5M-2M type deal. This was one player I felt the Flames should target. Local boy who can provide some skill, speed, and depth scoring.
