A signing I could have done with out. Now that I'm living back in Vancouver unfortuntely I have to put up with the canucks games and Raymond imo is a soft useless streaky player.

Glencross seemed to always score against the Flames. Hopefully, Raymond tenure here mirrors that of Glencross.

I don't see the point in signing Raymond at any salary. Just don't see what need he addresses... We have plenty of small wingers already and I don't want Raymond taking a roster spot from our young guys, who are already facing stuff competition for only 2 or 3 spots.

Talking to Canuck fans, he's basically a shell of his old self now. Ever since the back injury he's been a total perimeter player. His speed will be nice on the PK though, as he's pretty dangerous short handed.

At least, if this is true, we've already beefed up a bit with all our other acquisitions so adding a bit of a softer player like Raymond for his speed isn't taking us from soft to softer to softest.

I just hope the term and cap hit aren't stupidly long or high, it'd be nice to see the Flames maintain some cap flexibility for the years ahead.

Maybe it makes Stempniak tradable for something.

I agree though, that without more moves, it doesn't really do much for me.

It's Billy Bob.

Or since he is from Cochrane, Parasite.

See I heard that it wouldn't surprise them if Mason Raymond signed with the Flames tomorrow.

As they were tossing names around trying to guess who the Flames might be after.

It's almost like Feaster is going after all these guys with local ties just to demonstrate how much they didn't want Shinkaruk.

No, he didn't. He identified Lacavelier as being a possible special exception to no-post apex (thus identifying him as post-apex) but other then that lone example we don't know the definition.

Before Glencross and Stempniak came here they seemed to be Flames killers (big games against us for the Oilers and Blues respectively).

Raymond is kind of the same. He has had big games against the Flames.

I hope he stay healthy. Happy to have him.

I don't mind, nor do I like this potential deal.

It's one of those signings where you go okay, that's nice I guess. I am beginning to wonder if they might be getting too many forwards though.

(lines just thrown together)

Baertschi-Stajan-Raymond
Cammalleri-Backlund-Hudler
Glencross-Knight-Stempniak
Jones-Reinhart-Galiardi
Jones-Horak-Bouma
Hanowski-Jackman

I would have to think that whomever gets added, someone else will have to be subtracted

I would imagine yes, absolutely. Each player would be judged individually. Safe to say it's under 30 though.

The more i think about the more i dont like it.

1) He is soft

2) If we bring him in, and don't get rid of anybody, there is no spot for Horak

3) If we bring him in just to trade someone else, is the overall value going to be worth it? They are going to get a lot more for Cammi or Stempniak at the deadline rather than a summer trade. I don't think what Raymond brings is more than what holding onto Cammi or Stempniak would bring in trade at the deadline.
