I was just down on Riverdale avenue in Stanley park, about 200 feet from Elbow DR, and the people on the other side of the river are in for a world of hurt. A few houses already were submerged. The power was completely out down there, it was eerie, and deserted. The Elbow was moving FAST, and about 10 feet from the bike paths. I have lived here my whole life, and never seen it like that.
The Walmart on Macleod was sold out of water. I went to the MAcs across from the Chinook C-train, and they had cases of it. I snagged 4 just in case we have a boil advisory.

Sorry if I missed this in the last couple pages (monitoring a lot of sites right now), but CSTShaw tweeted that "all major roads" will be closed tomorrow. Anybody have further info on this?

Deoxyribonucleic Acid, for example... sounds impressive, right? But have you ever seen what happens if you put something in acid? It dissolves! If we had all this acid in our cells, we'd all dissolve! So much for the Theory of Evolution, Check MATE!

http://www.calgarycitynews.com/ is the source I had, but what I meant was "I found an up to date map for my area", it is not fully updated for all areas yet.

That's ######ed, I live in Windsor Park, and if the water got that high, going to work tomorrow is the least of our concerns. At that point I will be watching the skies for Valkyries and flying Satan in a flaming Canoe.

As in 3 hours before the flight? Leave at 6am for a 9am flight? This talk about Deerfoot has me thinking. Any other options for getting up there without Deerfoot and not swooping out as far as Chestermere? Sounds like traffic towards downtown will be light but will the main roads be open

I did a city tour this evening after supper.
Went to Montgomery. Stood at the park along home road and looked west towards the mountains. River moving fast, boweness homes backyards completely wet, mostly under water.
Went to Edworthy. Was high - looked fast. Water was up to the top of the storm sewer when normally water is trickling out the bottom.
Went to Glenmore Res (north by weaselhead). Had a distinct current to it moving at a pretty good clip from west to east hugging the north shore. Completely covered. Stood with some guy who worked with the city. He had been there earlier and said the whole thing looked empty and there was a meandering stream going through and it looked mostly like a dry flood plain, now it was a full res.
Headed off to Riverbend. Wow, river under glenmore was flooding into that big pond (north of carburn park). Lots of cars pulled over and people walking out looking. Appeared to be police taped off (area under and south of glenmore).
Parked in Riverbend. Headed to Southland dog park. River was high, fast, but not crazy. Didn't feel in danger or anything. Walked on the pedestrian bridge where an above poster showed a picture. Was fast moving, large logs, etc. Southland dog park looked washed out. Tried to continue along the path to Carburn - lots of cop cars out and access was blocked.
Left and headed to Stu Peppard and checked out the res emptying into the elbow. Was impressive how much water was coming out, but without a normal shot I had no basis for comparison. But it was impressive how much was pouring out. Was also getting pretty dark.
Headed home along crow to memorial west. River looked like it has risen since 8:45 when I stopped at edworthy.
Should be interesting. Hope everyone stays safe.

Yeah pretty much my reaction as well....my mother lives in WP as well and i am not worried one iota about her seeing anything resembling flood waters.
