So they can draft an 18 year old who may develop into a player as good as Landeskog. Don't you know anything? The hype and infinite potential of a young kid who hasn't taken a shift against players over the age of 20 clearly trumps the proven commodity of a young player who has assumed the captaincy of an NHL team!

Landeskkog is a above average first line forward. I don't think his ceiling is as high as any of the top 3 in this draft. Landeskkog had an impressive rookie season but lets not get carried away. He has 69pts in 118 games. That is good first line production but nothing amazing, even as a 20 year old. Mac, jones and drouin are all more attractive assets and skill sets IMO.
That's my take and why that deal is easy to make for me. Totally understand how others wouldn't though.

Appreciate the condescending call out. So what, specifically,
do you disagree with? My feeling that landeskkog is an above average top line player or that mackinnon, jones and drouin all have a higher ceiling then landeskkog?
Please, educate me as I have not watches hockey in a long long time nor to I follow prospects, at all.

Sounds like you're working for the Oilers since you seem to love unproven soft skilled players.
Landeskog will probably never win the scoring race but he has every other characteristic you want in a hockey player - size, toughness, two way play, character and he has put up some pretty good numbers for a player of his age. He's the kind of player you win with in the playoffs.

None of the top three in the draft are what I'd call soft players. I'd also agree that they do have a higher potential ceiling than Landeskog. The unproven comment is just stupid. They will all be playing this fall in the NHL, so there will be plenty of time to become "proven" soon enough.

Yeah, I am being a dick. Ive got no problem with the common sense items you list in your quote above. But the notion that he is easily traded by the team that has him (expendable and easily replaced) seems absurd to me.
- they think Jones will have a good career but the forwards are too good to pass up. MacKinnon is someone who always elevates his game and has lived under the microscope of being next Crosby. Drouin compared to Kane. Barkov is big center who can do everything with hockey IQ whose faced men.
- Says MacKinnon would be the guy if they picked today. May be safest bet. Knows they'll get offers but are prepared to pick one.
- their intention is to make the pick at 1. Will listen to offers.

Craig Custance @CraigCustancenow Roy says MacKinnon would start the year as No. 3 center behind Duchene and Stastny. Plan would be to move O'Reilly to the wing.
I really, Really, REALLY hope whoever we draft at 6th turns out to be better than Mackinnon somehow. It would be justice for the Avs tanking away their season.

That's frustrating to hear. A kid who'd be our #1 center is going to a team deep with centers and will start in the three spot. So unfair.
