Seeing how there are rumors that Malkin is going to be shipped out soon, could you guys see Pittsburgh doing a deal involving the 1st overall pick so they could draft Jones? (or Mackinnon)
I was really worried Crosby was going to win it in OT just a coulpe shifts prior to Bergerons goal when Crosby had his helmet off and was buzzing causing chaos. I thought helmet off NHL fairytale moment but Boston and Rask did enough to fend the moment away.

I cant see them shipping out Malkin. I havent heard these rumours, but getting rid of him seems insane. Hes what keeps them running when Crosby gets hurt.

That's rich coming from you. If you're going to take shots at posters i'm surprised you're getting so defensive. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

Don't forget the Islanders giving up Chara (and Spezza) for Yashin! Hard to believe that Chara (who was barely noticed in that trade) turned out to be a better player than both of them. Aside from the Thornton trade the Bruins are really good at robbing other teams in trades.
Not sure what you are getting at but Boston wasn't involved in that trade. They signed Chara as a UFA.
Man, I'm pretty bummed out that we probably won't see Iginla vs. Regehr in the cup finals. I must admit though, Iggy does look a bit out of place on the Pens. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's him not wanting to disrupt the team or speak out when needed (since this is Crosby's team), but he's just looked too tentative out there. I hope he signs with a contender in the offseason and finds his game. I'm not expecting him to be the dominant guy like in 2004, but I do expect him to be better than what he's shown so far on the Pens.
Will over talent ? Pens have the talent but not the will to do what it takes to win in a tough series. Puck management and team defence has been abysmal, which is why they have scored 3 goals in 3 games and allowed 12.
Too many weak sisters.
Actually the tally's at 2 and 11, but you're spot on. It's actually a tad bit embarrassing to see all these weak turnovers and lazy defence.
There's no rumors about Malkin being traded. Just reporters are speculating to fill air time because he's entering his final season. He'll be extended. No doubt about that.

this is exactly right but these types of comments never get any credit because these are intangibles that are hard to measure.
There's no stats for how hard a guy digs for the puck in the corner, for how hard he'll hit or hold his stick with control of the puck, or be willing to skate that extra mile on the backcheck.
The Pens are more talented than Boston, but they aren't better then them.

Who would of thought his production would drop, finally playing with elite centers
Iginla put up 23 points in the 25 games that he played on Pittsburgh's top 2 lines, and, if he looks lost, it's primarily because he spent pretty much all of that time at left wing. It seems safe to say that the Penguins would be getting even more production out of him if they played him at his natural position and put him back on the first power play unit that undeniably had more success with him on it.
I can see him re-signing there for 1 year on the cheap ... A la Hossa
Iginla won't sign if he's going to be playing on the 3rd line. And I highly doubt Pittsburgh will even offer him a contract off season. Even "on the cheap" Iggy is too expensive for the role they are using him for.
No they didn't! They got very damn lucky in getting those 2 goals against the Leafs in the last minute and half of game 7.
3-1 comeback is so very different than 3-0. I don't have the stats but it feels like we see at least one 3-1 comeback every 1 or 2 playoffs. Hawks already just completed one like a week ago.
Compare that to the pens current task which seems to occur once every 3 or 4 decades, I would very nearly bet my life savings on the expected outcome, and probably make 0.1% return on it. There's about as much drama left in this as buying a lottery ticket and waiting for the winning numbers in the newspaper the next day.
Odd thing to say when most people around here are sudden Pens bandwagoners. To each their own I suppose.
Great game! Skimmed a few pages, really people here want to pick out one team for diving or flopping? What game were you watching? Both teams were equally guilty of that crap tonight. When they finally knocked it off it turned into quite the game, haven't been on the edge of my seat for a hockey game like that in many years now.
