I believe he doesn't have a NTC so technically he would have to although I'm sure he would much prefer to go to a team like the Flyers.

Gretzky only has 4 Stanley Cup rings.
Kevin Lowe won 2 Cups without Gretzky. Gretzky didn't win any without Lowe.

A day later I'm still laughing at what transpired yesterday. Daryl Katz must be oblivious to let that cast of characters continue ruining talented young players.

Kevin probably thinks he was a better player using the cup rings metric.

it will be a sad day in Calgary once Lowe gets fired, although Katz has a love affair with the old Oiler players, so it probably wont happen.... you have to wonder if guys like Hall and Eberle are regretting signing on for the long term?

How about Justin Schultz? Spurned the Ducks for the Oilers............the Ducks are 3rd overall in the league, the Oilers are a circus sideshow.
Great decision.

Not saying the Oilers would've drafted Schultz but the Ducks did draft him with the Oilers 2nd rounder they received in the Penner offer sheet compensation

I know, but the fact was he was Ducks property and decided to go to UFA and sign with the Oilers instead.
If that's a sign of his decision making skills then I look forward to watching the Flames play against him for many years to come.

Yeah, that's the scary thing if your an Oilers fan. Their backs got up pretty quick (other than Howson; did he speak?) and they were taking these questions pretty personally to make some unscripted and foolish remarks out of emotion.
Makes it pretty clear that those guys are not used to having, or expecting, questions like that from those supposedly/technically above them on the organization food chain like Laforge or Katz.
That said, Lowe's got a pretty quick trigger...a friend of mine about 10 years ago was razzing Lowe as he came out of the press box at the Dome, the usual rivalry stuff, and Lowe ended up getting right in his face and yelling back and forth with him for 30 seconds.

Much like Jordan Staal is regretting leaving the Pens.

Ha! That or the fact that he didnt want to compete for a spot on the Ducks and wanted the easy guaranteed roster spot in Edmonton.
A defenceman with bad decision making skills who doesnt want to compete for a spot? Sounds like Oilers material to me.

I remember reading a post about something like that just after the last lockout. Didn't the fan give him the gears for letting the door (gate) slam? Now they have security stand there to open and close the doors for people.

I will say that his contract expires at the end of next season so if he plays his cards right his career with the Oilers should last no longer than 3 seasons.

I agree.
Anaheim > Edmonton
Ducks > Oilers

Wouldn't that be two seasons?
Easy to say right now the decision looks bad - maybe it will turn out to have been a mistake over the long haul and maybe not. Little early to say, 40 games into his NHL career.

Norm!

He really doesn't move his feet in the defensive zone.
He has a high offensive IQ, but I'm not sure about his defensive IQ.
He has a bit of development to go through.

Doubtful. They must be well aware of the lofty positions the Oilers will give them post-retirement.
