How much of that is stuff you think you remember, because honestly, how you interpreted the press conference makes me wonder.

Not to "let players off the hook", not using the lack of Iginla and Bouwmeester as an excuse for sucking.
That along with Feaster and Weisbrod saying theyre not interested in players that are "post apex" means that they're looking at getting younger and building something new.

 Everyone can relax.

Nicely done - that is an accurate reporting of what he said.

 This forum has gone crazy.

Its pretty incredible how bi-polar and asinine this place has become. Christ, what would of this place been like during the dark days? If this place wasnt a staple of my daily browsing I probably wouldnt show up anymore. I think some people need to take a break from the FOI thread.

I don't think he meant to provide a comprehensive list... perhaps just examples.

Feaster just said "we are not going to be taking post-apex players to help a team with their cap problem" in context of using this coming year and dropping cap to possibly pick up some cap casualties.

He just said the late first picks are in play. Which sucks, I hope they just end up bundling them to move up, or select them ourselves.

What's your point? Did Feaster in any way imply this was their plan?

I sure hope Feaster gets fired. This guy talks way too much, and tries to come off as a know it all. He's thinking 2-3 days ahead, maybe less. Bring in Brian Burke.

Jay Feaster doesn't think late round picks improve a hockey club, of course they are in play.

If the goal is to make the playoffs next year losing Iginla did not help the cause.

Feaster - believes that there can be significant value and quality players available this off season as a result of cap casualties.
Remember, in the context of not taking "post-apex players". To be clear, I believe that means, players that aren't old and past their prime, for those freaking out that the making the playoffs comment.

I have no idea how some people think that the press conference means that Feaster is going to trade away all our prospects/draft picks for veterans?

Apparently that's the only way to make the playoffs next year...

Okay with the comments now after the clarification.
The team should not be content with being 15th and get used to losing, that is how you build the losing culture. You should always strive to be a good team and make the playoffs, it may not be likely but that should be the goal.

Look at Columbus, they didn't just accept their fate as 15th this year. They worked hard and now are battling for a playoff spot.

So yeah, not lot of trust there right now. But I want to love again!

My guess is Edwards' comment to Feaster, "now let's make sure we make the playoffs next year" was one of those friendly slap on the back type comments, and not an actual mandate. I hope people aren't expecting Feaster to be fired next year, if we miss again, based on this. Edwards is probably aware of whats in store for the next few years.
