Honestly I don't think 2 prospects and a 30th pick is that bad if he is re-signing. Lets say the prospects are Caron and Spooner plus the 30th pick. I think I would still do that if I was the Bruins. They are young enough they should have a few more yrs to recoup their system before they have to worry.

How can one not be loyal to a player who has given so much to this team? I have a great deal of respect for a guy who chose to stay with the Flames for as long as he has.

With all due respect people can do whatever they want. For me it's the logo before the name

When people say they would rather have Iginla on a losing team then him gone and a winning team, they are no longer cheering for the Calgary Flames.

I'm not sure what part of this is hard for you to understand... but some people feel differently than you do.

And that's allowed.

Depends what you consider loyalty, and what you consider what is good for the Calgary Flames. I see some are unable to separate the two.

Ok, so we have 4 teams left in the running. With Joe Morrow moved today, one of the key pieces I was looking for in return is now gone.

But now knowing what the Flames are looking for (2 prospects and a draft pick) and seeing what Brenden Morrow was worth on today's market, here's what I ask for if I'm Jay Feaster.

LA - Johnathan Bernier (G), Tyler Toffoli (RW) and 2014 1st round pick
PIT - Derek Pouliot (D), Beau Bennett (RW) and 2013 1st round pick
CHI - Teuvo Teravainen (C), Brandon Saad (C) and 2013 2nd round pick
BOS - Seth Griffith (RW), Alexander Khokhlachev (C) and 2013 1st round pick

I've bolded my preference.

I don't think LA has a 2013 1st.

I like the Chicago proposal there the best.

Rebuilds done right aren't bad. At least there's a plan and you know you're headed in the right direction. You get to really watch young players develop because they get their shot at the NHL early. There are some special moments the first two seasons, it kind of makes up for being low in the standings. By year three, you start to see the big picture, next thing you know playoffs are back within reach. I much more enjoyed the first two years of rebuilding, despite miserable losses, while the Kings did it rather than watching low level or washed up NHLers coming in and keeping them in 10th place. (Sound familiar?)

I'm looking forward to the same thing with the Flames. Edmonton is doing it wrong , they are not drafting intelligently and didn't grab the right veterans to mentor their kids. That is a terrible example of a rebuild. The Flames do it right and they'll still be in a playoff spot before the Oilers. Rebuilding isn't as bad as some people think it is.

I really think Pitt is out of the Iggy sweepstakes. They need help on D more than adding another winger. Maybe Gio or JBO?

I was sad to see Ray Bourque (huge Bruins fans) traded to Colorado and at the same time excited to see him get a chance to win a Cup. If both Iggy and the Flames get what they want i'll be happy for both.

We do not know what the Flames are looking for. That is all pure speculation and made up by the media who is trying to push the process along to drum up excitement. If Iginla gets traded, I'm guessing there are going to be some big surprises associated with it like who the team is and what the return is. Furthermore, I would be surprised if Iginla was traded by himself (remember Andreychuk went with Bourque and returned a pretty nice package of three players and a 1st round pick). This could end up being a huge trade.

Today has all been the result of one guy speculating and then everyone else picking it up spinning their own stupid version of it. Pretty sad.

Sort of like when Niewendyk was traded for Iginla.

well, the 77 million dollars probably had a little to do with the loyalty don't you think?

If he stays, let's see how much he signs for before everyone anoints him as St.Jarome.

I like the guy as much as anyone else, but the ideas of what loyalty and altruism actually mean seem to be absolutely confused on this site....
