This team needs a radical makeover. That has to start with Feaster at a minimum. IMO
No point waiting. This regime is going nowhere and could make more mistakes in composing the team if they are allowed to manage the draft.
All NMC players should be asked for a list.
There can be no debate now.

Remember how few years ago most people were demanding to trade for Jokinen. Then Sutter did and Jokinen failed here. And so many comments were about how fans on the message board are allowed to judge by just big name and highlights while pro GM had to do scouting and due dilligence and such. So many fans were ecstatic about Tanguay, Jokinen, Stuart, they thought that Lydman, Leopold, Clark, Ference & co are easily replaceable.
Any fan, myself included, that keeps a record of what he thought and how things turned out in the end, knows that he would suck hard at running the team.

That's why there are only a handful of GMs that I would actually consider good GMs as only a handful of GMs have managed to have long-term success or success building different teams.
My concern with Feaster is that he gives me the impression that he's like a kid at a toy store who wants the best toy in the toy store. He doesn't care if he has similar toys at home, or that the best toy in the toy store isn't very good, or spent his summer allowance in the the winter.

True. And this brings up another problem - it is very hard to judge GM. Unless GM is awfully incompetent from the start, it takes a couple of years to find out if GM is really good.

Yep and that's fine, since new GMs are generally given 5 years to start with and the expectation (fan expectations for sure) is that a GM can't be truely evaluated until close to the 5 year mark. And except in cases where GMs were promoted from within, new GMs have the benefit of extra time (at least from a fan's perspective) to assess his staff and roster. Most GMs are smart enough to take advantage of this grace period and not guarantee immediate results.
Now what I described isn't Feaster. It's not so much I'm passing judgment that Feaster is "awfully incompetent from the start". But he did have about half a season to evaluate his staff and players before taking over as GM. And upon taking over as GM, he had another half a year to evaluate his team and staff before he felt compelled to declare that his team was going to make the playoffs.
So Feaster spent a year evaluating the team and still concluded that his team was more than capable of making the playoffs and told the world that the Flames would make the playoffs. The Flames didn't make the playoffs and Feaster proceeded to not trade away any veteran players, hired a new coach, and signed a couple of UFAs to 4+ year contracts with NTCs to bolster the team's chances of making the playoffs. The team is currently not in a playoff position and if Feaster decides that it's now time to rebuild then that means his initial evaluation was wrong and I think that's cause for firing him. If Feaster decides that it's still not time to rebuild and still thinks that trading Iginla + offseason moves could make this team into a playoff team then ya I can see how Feaster can be given another year. But for me, a GM doesn't deserve 5 years if within that 5 years he's proven that his plan simply isn't working.

I'm guessing that he is working overtime tonight getting season ticket holder renewals in the mail.

He needs to address the fans/media. I will be disappointed if he doesn't.

I would. Guy is safe until the end of the season since trade deadline is very near. Nowhere enough time to get a new guy to settle in and handle that event.
He should be released though after this season. He hasn't achieve what he was set out to do when he was officially made GM. Team is in worse shape now when that isn't the intention.

Better not be sleeping any time soon. Better be using three phones and draining all those batteries to drum up some player movement.

Can't see anyway that he keeps his job after this season. Feaster had a hard challenge set in front of him with the mandate in place, but he totally failed on the first mandate. He has said he is not the right guy for a rebuild and it looks like he is not the right guy for a re-tool.

If they fire Feaster, which i suspect they might, if i were writing the press conference it would go like this:
Ken King: we have made the decision to replace Jay Feaster as general manager. We wish Jay the best with his future efforts. I will take one question.
reporter: can you provide some insight as to why the decision was made?
ken King: the goal was in.
Press conference over

It's gut check time for the organization. As poor as I believe Feaster is, it is highly unlikely they let him go right now...
However, does anyone really think now that ROR would have made a lick of difference, getting tis team into a playoff spot? Bear in mind, Colorado has gotten worse since his return...
Thank god colorado matched so we didn't lose our first and third
