Crazy to think how different the Oilers look with Seguin, Landeskog, Murray to go along with Eberle.
Interesting poll for Oilers fans.
Seguin, Landeskog, Murray
or
Hall, RNH, Yakupov

Irrelevant trade it is a late pick for a fighter. Oilers need a fighter

Bringing in Mike Brown has 0 to do with McGrattan going to the Flames. He is a willing fighter but is 5'11 200 lbs. he isn't going to do much fighting a legit heavywieght like McGrattan. The Oilers needed (probably still do) a lot more toughness and grit to their line-up whether McGrattan is here or not.

Been wondering this for a while. Assuming they'd still be considered exciting enough for Shultz to sign, would they not be a much more balanced and stable young core. Seems like a hindsight is 20/20 type deal, but considering the closeness at the time of seguin and hall, and assuming in a dead heat a smart franchise would build around a centre (god knows we want to), then we can say they likely wound have gone for a winger to play with eberle and seguin. Landeskog gets picked. And last year plenty of people outside the oilers organization saw the benefit to trading down and picking Murray (or just taking him #1). Not that I'm upset, I enjoy watching the oilers spin their tires and assume a team of skill guys under 6' with poor veteran leadership will become "something special".

It's funny how so many on CP lost their minds over trading a dead contract for a 4th liner a few day ago. Imagine if we traded a 4th, which could possibly be a 3rd, for one and lose a free contract spot as well

Draft pick for a 4th line fighter... it was bad when Feaster did it and this is even worse. Career AHL'er for a goon... that I can live with but draft picks (mid-round ones at that) it's stupid.

Who was the goon he drafted? Or do you mean the PL³ trade?

Maybe he really is just playing a game on a much larger time scale than everyone else. Or maybe everything's unrelated. But in a week, he managed to screw up Colorado's salary structure and force Edmonton to trade a draft pick.

Don't forget the part about Feaster embarrasing the flames at a level they haven't hit before. Might want to include that when you list his "accomplishments"

You're right, Feaster embarrassed the Flames with the O'Reilly thing. So he made a rare mistake of embarrassing the franchise.
Unlike Lowe and Tambelllini who have made a career of turning the Oilers into an embarrassment

Which has NOTHING to do with the subject at hand.
Go away as that stuff adds nothing to the discussion.

This.
Sutter drafted a goon... but he had a few actual hockey skills (at least in the Dub) and it was the 6th round so I didn't care so much (although it was still a waste since he almost certainly could have been had for free as an undrafted FA).

It has as much to do with thread as giving Feaster credit.
Both are ridiculous and add nothing.

I'm far from convinced that Murray would have been the best choice that year either. Rielly and Trouba are just 2 of the defensemen taken after Murray that may end up better in the NHL. If somebody gave a solid offer to move up I think the Oilers should've taken it, it was a bad year to have the #1 pick. Galchenyuk may end up as good or better than Yakupov.
RNH is a fine pick, I don't consider that pick worse than Landeskog. I think a one-two punch up the middle with Seguin-RNH would have given the Oilers their franchise centres for years.
I definitely think they erred not taking Seguin over Hall. And I'm far from convinced on Yakupov. I think they should have dealt down that year.

What?
This thread is about Brown...Feaster was the guy who acquired McGrattan...has nothing at all to do with ROR , but may have been part of the reason Tambellini decided to go get Brown to begin with.
See the difference?

Way too early to tell. Need to wait 5 years or so from the draft to get a larger picture of how things panned out. Easy to comment one way or the other based on what amounts to a brief snapshot.

Agreed - he's more Brandon Prust (albeit a poor-man's version) than Steve MacIntyre.

I'm not saying he's great, but I am observing how his actions are impacting the northwest division. If you think McGratton doesn't motivate this a little bit, you're fooling yourself.

I agree, way too early and was not indicating they were better or worse off.
Just neat to see how different the team looks style wise if they you change that pick each year.
The only pick I actually would change is Seguin/Hall. Having Seguin and RNH down the middle makes the team much more dynamic. Seguin could play the two-way center roll, opening up more opportunity for RNH.
