Welp just got off the phone with Telus and I should have 25mbps in 24 hours via software push. Guess I will believe it when I see it.

Loop binding requires a tech visit as it needs new equipment. If your line qualifies for more bandwidth on its own, it just a 'flick of a switch' so to speak. haha

I was told $10 more a month by the rep on the phone.

So even if I live in a home built in 1983 in an older part of town I may still get my 25mbps via "flick of the switch"? No need for newer infrastructure?

Your home could have been built in 1904, it all depends on the outside cable.

Sweet! No 25mbps for me. I got the classic...

"Thanks for the wait. Upon checking you are eligible for TELUS Internet 25. However there is no port available on your area for the upgrade."

Made the switch today. Setup is on Tuesday. Free TV (hopefully) comes in 3 weeks.

Are you sure? telus just called me and offered me an upgrade frm 25mbps to 50 mbps for $3 more for 6 months, and even though i'm in a 3 yr contract, my internet and phone would go to month to month and my optik tv stays locked in. too good to be true?

I dont think 50 AND TV are available with loop binding yet. Not sure why really. You may be on GPON.

in all honesty i have no idea what those are but they're emailing me the paperwork this friday, so i'll peak at it then and post any relevant parts. I did just sign up last july so that could be it

In another note, my bill was ridiculously high last month, (around $203, when i signed up for $154) i did add about $17 worth of extras, but i was still over charged. Called telus and they reduced it down to $146 even with the extras for 6 months and then back to $170 after my extra promos expire. My point is, don't be afraid to call them and ask for discounts, just be polite and talk to retention's.

Had my GPON installed yesterday.

Wanted to post how good a job the installer did - it's amazing the quality difference between a weekend contractor and an actual Telus employee.

Thanks to Doug at Telus, things look and work great.

I had a similar bill. I will call them and find out. They keep trying to charge me for a rental PVR when I bought it outright.

Things haven't started well at all.

Technician set up the wrong theme packs and didn't order my NHL Center Ice. Still waiting for them to correct it. Internet isn't delivering near the speed promised. And the PVR cut off the Flame game a half hour early.

It's going to be a long and disappointing three years.

for sports events it's probably best to set up extra time at the end to record, not sure about today but it'll cut off early if it goes past it's time slot because that's optik (or any pvr) only knows is the time slot, it doesn't know if a program extended it's time slot and has to continue recording.

I'm in victoria, but I find my speeds are always about the same constant 24mbps, even seen it at 26-27. If you are watching 3 HD feeds that'll knock about 5-6 mbps off your internet speed.
