It looks as if the Prometheus sequel is indeed moving forward. Anticipation for Ridley Scott’s Alien-esque sci-fi pic was at a fever pitch when the film hit theaters, but reaction was enthusiastically polarized. Some loved that Scott left many questions unanswered and tackled large ideas, while others were distracted by the script’s plot holes and ridiculously inept scientists. I fell somewhere in between, but I’d by lying if I said I wasn’t interested in seeing where Scott plans to go for the follow-up.
Fresh off the film’s healthy box office take (especially for an R-rated sci-fi movie), Fox has now revealed that they are actively moving forward with the Prometheus sequel, and screenwriter Damon Lindelof may not be returning this time around

Oh good, the lost guy is gone.
I hope they don't replace him with JJ Abrams.

Of course, you're joking.
The world of Prometheus was one of the most beautiful film worlds I've ever seen. I can only imagine how it would have been turned up to 11 with... lens flares!!!!

I really hope that the Prometheus sequel is Lindelofless. The movie was amazing to look at, but the story and characters were mediocre to terrible.
STAY OUT OF HERE LINDELOF YOU HACK.

follow up on David and Shaw seems the most likely but it could be hard to make a whole movie out of that

I wish James Cameron would stop screwing around with his Avatar movies and get to the good stuff. What happened to Battle Angel? And yes Cameron should do another Alien movie.

James Cameron should just do another Terminator movie in a manner that assumes the last two didn't even exist.

Every character needs to carry the "idiot ball" for their fair share of the movie. No need for one to hold it the whole time.

no, because he ended T2 in such a way that should have ended the thought of any sequels. SHOULD

I think Cameron is past the point of directing anything good. In the last 20 years he has only directed 2 movies, and while both are visually appealing, they are not near the level of quality of his previous films. Maybe he still has "it", but I wouldn't say it's a sure thing.
Really throughout his entire career Cameron has only directed three exceptional movies, and the last one was Terminator 2 in 1991. True Lies, The Abyss, Titanic, and I guess Avatar were all pretty good, but nothing special imo. Although I must say Titanic is still visually stunning to this day.

Keep in mind he took 13+ years off from directing.
I don't think Cameron is past directing anything good, at all. Given the right material he is still capable of making a watermark movie like Terminator. edit - The Abyss to me is his best film and one of the best ever. The movie has its flaws, but the underwater realism (because it is real) has never been matched, great film.

Even if you hated the first Prometheus, Prometheus 2 (not the final title) should grab your attention. It is going to be directed by Ridley Scott, and the script is being rewritten by Michael Green, whose previous credits include Smallville, Heroes, Green Lantern, and most recently a new Blade Runner also with Scott. We also have a tentative release window of March 2016.
The first movie certainly left things in a state that suggested a continuation was in order, and $400 million earned at the box office guaranteed 20th Century Fox would make it happen. It’s only right that Scott be the director to carry on his vision of the early years of the Alien universe development.

Nothing is known about how the next part of the story will pan out. Only Shaw survived alongside part of David. It is rumored that Prometheus 2 will feature multiple David androids, which fans of Michael Fassbender will be very glad to hear.

I, for one, liked Prometheus because the Aliens universe isn't a hard sci-fi universe, and leans quite heavily towards horror. Horror being a genre where people often make stupid decisions to further the plot.
That said, I'm excited for Prometheus 2.

I had high hopes and Prometheus wasn't perfect but it featured a quality cast (Fassbender was particularly brilliant) and was entertaining from beginning to end. If the next one can improve on that it should be a good one.

Loved the world he created but was not a fan of this movie. Just way to many issues (scientists taking off helmets, not rolling left or right and getting crushed)
The world seemed to toy with some great ideas and then boiled down to....something. My favorite scene was at the end that linked the Aliens universe.
