I'm sorry but all I hear is 'zzzzzzzz Side of the NET!! zzzzzzz'. It's horrible. I've also watched many games in pubs that have the sound on, and nobody knows what he's talking about unless it's at the side of the net
Peter had is own drinking game lines as well, but Kerr is just muffled half the time and bored. I would appreciate a change!

Also, is it just me or does Kerr now sound totally different when he gets interviewed on Fan960? I heard him this morning and I couldn't connect his voice to his PBP voice. Maybe a bad phone or something.

Interesting comment. I thought the same thing when I heard Kerr on the radio. He sounded nothing like Kerr. Maybe just horse from yelling "Shuuut" the night before.

Exactly.
I have no problem with people not liking Kerr and thinking he should be gone but no idea why people want to bring in one of the few guys that is worse than him.
We had to suffer enough years with Loubardias no reason to force us to listen to more of him again.

He is extremely boring to listen to --there isn't even an argument there. IF he has improved it's from dreadfully boring to absolutely boring. We have a crap team to watch --at least give us some entertainment to listen to on the broadcast. Is is really that difficult to find someone who is even moderately good at their job?

Kerr is horrible. He adds his little tidbits in, that really has nothing too do with anything forgetting about doing his job. His tone changes are awful, and when he screams scores my windows crack with his women like call.
The only thing he got right was getting rid of his giant suits, and getting a hair cut.
Kobasew was drafted by the Calgary flames, he was also a player for them as well. What's your insight into that Charlie ? Well Robb I think you covered everything there, the key to kobasew is keeping his feet moving, and getting pucks on net. Thanks for that great insight Charlie l, former member of the triple crown line.

It's not hatred.
For some like myself, watching a game is an immersive experience. Everything about the broadcast adds to it. In the 80s and early 90s, I have memories of the Flames scoring, Whalen's call, the cowbell going off, and the chubby Mario looking guy being cut to as the crowd cheered.
With Loubo, the hockey was subpar but at least the call was memorable.
With Kerr, the hockey is subpar and the call is absolutely forgettable. Granted it might be a good thing for me to be able to easily wipe the memories of this season, but it certainly reduces the enjoyment of watching the games.

That's the thing-Whalen was terrible and annoying, one of the worst voices for pbp ever. But we loved him because we got used to it and he became an icon.
Kerr isn't boring, he has emotion and excitement in his calls, but he is something that obviously most people will always not like; he is different. Same as millions, and Loubo, and now Kerr. Most of the people complaining can't handle change, and unless they bring Cuthbert in the next guy will get complained about as well.
My biggest dissapointment with Kerr is that he was very good at his previous job, and the things that made him good he doesn't get to use much as a pbp guy.

I have to agree here. Swapping PL for Kerr isn't exactly fixing the problem. IMO RSN needs to bring in someone from the outside that's not going to be a homer (Millions) and going to add some passion to the broadcasts. I like Rob Kerr on the radio but this year's telecasts were amongst the most dull in the history of the Calgary Flames on TV.

Problem is those rare occasions of emotion & excitement are buried in overly dull, monotone pbp and banter. I honestly can't see how anyone can defend Kerr's PBP. It's not very good, end of story.

Well, with that 'end of story' you got me.
Now I can get on board that Charlie (seems like a very nice guy) is boring, monotone and not very insightful. As long as he is there I don't get how people can be complaining about Kerr. I wish they could get Perry Berezan to do color full time, he is a very interesting and insightful guy when talking hockey.

Kerr repeats himself all the time:
- WHERE IS IT?
- My apologies
- I mean
- I'm sorry
- I guess I was wrong

He was much better this season than during his days doing the PPVs, and he definitely improved over the course of the year. Kerr is just fine, IMO...but I have to agree that I miss him on the FAN. I especially miss his combativeness on Overtime (although Steinberg is starting to stomp folks when it's appropriate).
Then again, the thing I am least concerned about when watching a TV broadcast is the play-by-play/color commentators.

I don't know. This simply proves he fits in with the Flames. Could be any player, Sutter or even upper management saying these same things.

And to further my prediction with some merit, I did call the Loubardias firing last summer 2 days before the news broke, so I'm 1 for 1 on these predictions, pretty sure I'm going to go 2 for 2.

I for one hope you're right. I dont know what Sportsnet was thinking handing a pro job to an amateur.
And I actually wouldnt mind Loubardias back, he may not have been the greatest PbP guy the world has ever known but he had enthusiasm and I didnt find his voice or his calls annoying. Granted, over a longer time frame that might change, and I think the opinion of 'Bring Back Loubardias' at the moment is one of having forgotten all of his little eccentricities because we're more focused on Kerr's.

My only concern with replacing Kerr is look at the crap that Sportsnet has/had working for it as PBP guys.
Kerr is not great, Loubardias was awful, I liked Millions but many did not, Shorthouse is mediocre to bad (despite what his buddy VFF says), Kevin Quinn is the worst of the bunch and it is mind blowing how he still has a job, Dean Brown (I think does Sens games) is about as boring and useless as it gets.
Not sure who I am missing but it seems that Sportsnet is completely unable to hire someone competent and judging on the other "talent" they have on the network I have little doubt at all that they will hire anyone that is any good or even better than Kerr.
