Did you know: Drug Test Fail
If you drink coca tea and get randomly drug tested at work you will fail for Cocaine use!!! Apparently you'll fail a urine test within 48hours of drinking it... I had one cup yesterday and once I found out we were being drug tested I had another to see if I would fail.

Considering cocaine comes from the leaves of a coca plant...and presumably you had those leaves inside some hot water for tea....I can't say I'm surprised.

So if you were a cocaine user and you worked for a company that drug tested could you just drink this tea all the time to permanently eff up your tests?

Don't forget poppy seeds in baked goods, you will test positive for opium and you won't get to see the Kalahari bushmen.

I didn't think Coca was alright to bring back to Canada. I'm guessing I had that wrong.
I loved when I was in Peru and they explained how in leaf form it wasn't a drug: "It's not a drug or anything, but the farmers just chew it so they can work all day without sleeping or eating" .... hmmmmmmm....

^^True coca leaves as they are in Peru/Columbia aren't legal to bring back but happens all the time. The ones I believe you can buy here are stripped down to take off most of the coca and cocaine qualities.

we used to drink the tea and chew the leaves to help with altitude adjustment and for energy on the Maccu Piccu hike.
You could buy it as a beverage at many restaraunts outside of the big cities as well.

One of my favorite Peru pictures is a bag of Coca leaves for sale on a rack at 7-11..... right next to a Scotia Bank, both buildings made of mud brick.

In our early 20's my brother did coke, a bit too much, a lot. He failed a drug test for work and when telling me about it he proclaimed he didn't know how it happened. I asked was it coke, and he said yes. Thankfully he is past all that, a family man now, all together, but I'm glad he didn't coca tea 10 years ago, or I would have been in for a long story about that.
Cool story bro?
Yes it is.

It's definitely a drug, just starkly different from cocaine. Cocaine is obviously far more concentrated plus cut with a tonne of different chemicals on top of that.
When I was down there, I was curious as well to the relationship between the two, so I asked someone about it. He told me that cocaine is made from coca in about 1000:1 ratio. So that's 1kg of coca to make 1g of cocaine.
I'm not sure if that's accurate or not though, and I don't really feel like googling instructions on how to make cocaine while at work...
