Especially when, you know, they're not in Vancouver.

I was going to blame Joe Capp but SportsJunky beat me to it!
None the less a black eye for Vancouver and I am not going to try and defend it, while it may have been the action of a few d'bags it would have been nice if the rest of my fair cities drunken fool inhabitants would have stepped in to protect our guests.
It is about time the morons here learnt what constitutes an honorable and fair fight

Looks like I missed the party.
The situation in this thread is far from just a Vancouver issue. I'm sure something like this has happened in every Grey Cup city in the past. Drunk idiots, nothing more. Shame that it happened, but this type of incident is not exclusive to Vancouver.
Every city has idiots, but Vancouver does seem to have an idiot quotient far greater than every other Canadian city. I've never said anything to the contrary. It's obviously not scientifically proven, but the optics are not in Vancouver's favor.
I just take issue with the gross generalizations from people here and other places that EVERYONE in Vancouver is an idiot, that everyone in Vancouver is a criminal. It's not fair to the 98 percent of the population here that are quality, upstanding individuals.

Not sure if it's from this article, but the guy who got jumped said the culprits weren't drunk fwiw. Also, 98% of the population anywhere are not upstanding citizens. I find the Vancouverites I meet to be very nice.

I've seen it happen in Regina. Granted, it is Regina we're talking about. To a Blue Bombers fan. And both were drunk. And the other fans pulled them apart as soon as he was attacked.
EDIT - I don't know the full story behind it, but it did sound more provoked...so it might not be a good example.

Because things like this just don't happen.
Anecdotal evidence I know, but in my life I have done a lot of partying, and never once have I come close to getting into trouble. However, I have a friend who has "been jumped" 4 or 5 times over the last few years. If you heard it from him, every single one of these attacks has been completely unprovoked. However, I have been out partying with him. He's an #######. It does not surprise me in the least that he has provoked/pissed off someone enough to get himself into a fight.
What I'm trying to say is, things like this very rarely happen. You think two guys from Calgary in Vancouver on Grey Cup weekend are acting completely civil at 2:30 in the morning? Especially with the amount of people that would be out and about at that time, and no one came to these guys defense? Come on.

I'll add this to my list, entitled "Reasons why I am going to nuke Vancouver and start over when I become King of the World"
The natural beauty of the area is spoiled by ugly condos and the biggest d-bag quotient known to modern man.
If people are really adverse to me nuking a populated Vancouver, we could always do the humane thing and ship them to the Jersey Shore, so they feel at home?

You truly believe that a person has never been in an altercation in Regina, Winnipeg, Calgary or Edmonton for wearing the jersey of a rival fan? Think about how silly that sounds.
Can I back up my claim with links to news stories? No, but just because it's not in the news, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I back up my claim with common sense. Idiots are idiots and they do stupid things like beating up a rival fan for no good reason. Yes, there are more idiots in Vancouver it seems, but that's not what we're talking about here. The fact that you think these four cities you listed above are immune to idiotic behavior like this is ridiculous.

Jumping guys just because they are wearing another teams jersey i just don't get.
If they are being mouthy then you get what you get but this was unprovoked as witness's have stated.
Bigger question why is usually the more frequent offender of fans getting out of control Vancouver. Its no coincidence.

Sure they do, it's not at all uncommon. I've seen numerous encounters where the only point of tension is different colored jerseys.

Went to look up stats regarding cities that have rioted after the Stanley Cup finals by searching "Stanley Cup finals riot" on Google. The first 10 pages involved the 1994 and 2011 Vancouver riots. After that I just gave up.
Edit: Decided to try one more time... up to page 20...
