Wasn't it TSN commentators? Or were they international commentators?

Evidently no scrums in rugby league?
Rugby league is a different game, this is rugby union. In league there might as well not be scrums, you're pretty much allowed to throw it at a 45 degree angle to your side. In union you're supposed to throw it straight down the middle, although obviously this isn't always the case. The advantage is largely due to the ability to know when the ball will be put in. The example of a teammate dropping the puck for a faceoff is a pretty good one.

Well the ball is supposed to go down the middle and you could try to push the other team, but thats pretty difficult to time properly. What is supposed to happen is that the hooker (guy in the middle of the front row) hooks the ball back with his foot.

Watching the Haka always gives me chills. I would not want to play against the All Blacks. I'm convinced they dont feel pain.

That being said, after 60 I would have probably gone home.

Saw the middle of the match while at lunch. It almost felt like Japan's defence wasn't even trying in the second half. The All Blacks just cut through them like butter.

Yeah, I actually watched most of it, but I think in the end Japan had been doing so much defending all game that as it wound down to the end they were exhausted and really, whats the point?

The Haka would not be so intimidating if the other team mocked them and made funny faces.

This will sound really stupid. But in rugby kicking off to the team who just scored doesn't seem to make sense. I understand it's a game of territory and with teams that are of even strength, kickng off and gaining 30-40 metres makes sense.

But when NZ plays Japan it's all one way and Japan never gets the ball.

NZ scores -> Japan kicks to NZ -> NZ scores -> Japan kicks to NZ -> repeat

It doesn't matter about territory, NZ could be 1000 metres from the goaline and still score a try.

http://www.online-betting.me.uk/blog...-16-09-11.html

The last and only time that Japan and New Zealand have crossed paths was back in 1995, when the All Blacks ran up a cricket score. The Kiwis crushed their opponents 145-17 on that occasion, and so we will be expecting to see plenty of tries in this Pool A fixture as the host nation looks to build momentum. That just makes it a prime opportunity to dip into some handicap betting and with first match nerves out of the way, we should see the All Blacks settle into their game a little bit more. A New Zealand -56 Handicap fetches 10/11 at Bet365

NZ beat the spread by 20 points today.

I am not sure if this will make sense but you don't actually kick to the other team - you put the ball in play. As long as it goes beyond the 10m line it is fair game for anybody.

True but I think 90% of the time, the receiving team gets it.
Especially if it's New Zealand!

Yeah lots of different strategy here but as you mentioned against a team like NZ there really aren't any good options.

I am not sure I want to watch the Canada vs. NZ game.

I've been on the wrong end of an 80-0 beatdown. It was obviously not a lot of fun...

That is a huge result for Ireland! It likely sets up an Australia/South Africa match in the next round and Ireland will get Samoa or Wales. South Africa looks really good so far, but one of the big three would be out.

In other news France changed out 11 guys for the game tonight/tomorrow. Hopefully Canada is successful against the second team to do this to them! Its a long shot to say the least, but that would be so awesome!

Perhaps this is France just surrendering early?
