Time for the good folks of Norway to resurrect an old custom to deal with nutbars like this...cutting the bloodeagle.

Up to 400 kids on a small island, they had nowhere to run to, it would have taken the cops a while to respond, take it seriously, get armed, get a boat etc, he had at least half an hour probably an hour plus.

Except these groups and people are more then likely going to hell because their actions and interpretations of the bible are flawed and lead to evil actions.

Don't throw these idiots in with Christianity, because they're clearly not.

The KKK murdered, thou shalt not kill.
Westboro for using the word of god to promote hate.

Etc.

I think that what you're saying is actually pretty silly and your taking fringe groups and trying to reflect it onto a larger body that doesn't even recognize those fringe perversions.

I used to drink at a pub called the 'spread eagle' it is a relatively comman name for a pub, it refers to a similer type of execution, the pubs were built on the site of the 'event'.

To be honest it beggers belief they didn't just cap the ####### when they had the chance, ditto the greyhound bus wack job a few years ago, there is something to be said for the police just ending things at times.

I would never blame a religeon for its adherents brutal stupidity, that said christians are just as likely to kill for their religeon as Muslims, just about every church, if it has been around long enough, has told its flock its ok to kill. Some have told their flock it is good to kill for jesus.

Looking back at things like Columbine and Virginia Tech (I realize they are different because they were school shootings, but this was a camp shooting so similar in that scenario), I am surprised (happy) that only 13 and 32 people died in those tragedies respectively (not saying those are low numbers but saying more so that the damage could have been much worse, especially in Colorado). It's a good thing that in Columbine that Harris and Klebold were too stupid to make good bombs in the cafeteria otherwise they could have killed a lot more (closer to this number of 80). In the Virginia Tech case, Cho killed 32 people but again after locking Norris Hall, the damage could have been much worse. It sucks when stuff like this happens, just seems so surreal. I echo the thoughts in this thread when people said I don't know how someone can get to this point and open fire on kids. Shoot yourself in the head if you get to that point but don't kill innocent people. Disgusting.

Those larger bodies promote the choice of faith over reason. Once that choice is made, the difference between harmless and terrorist is simply what fiction you're exposed to.

The Army of God I know nothing about. What acts of terrorism have they committed?

The Westboro baptists are not a terrorist group. They claim that God is bringing judgment on America. Free speech allows them to function. I wouldn't want them as nieghbours but, they aren't to be feared.
A bunch of people are dead because of someone's belief in some perverted ideology. How about we relax on arguing about whose ideology is worse than whose? Any ideology can become enough motivation to someone that's susceptible. Let's not try and pretend some beliefs better than others. It's a disgrace to all those people that died for nothing.

Anyone else surprised this guy was taken alive? These mass shootings almost always end in suicide or a fatal shootout with police.

Horrible thing this is. I read on Expressen he was a right wing nutcase that was a nationalist, and someone who has written criticism against Islam. To go and do this just proves that there are nutjobs in every society, ours, America's, Islam, and even Norway.

Was just reading NRK. They say he posted on a website (document.no) where he expressed strong views against immigration, multiculturalism and Islam.

Extremism, regardless of what your skin color is, regardless of your religion, regardless of anything that differentiates us as humans, is horrible. Obviously. Tragedies happen all the time that we don't hear about, but to see that this many innocent kids have died is just unbelievable. I too can't believe he was actually arrested.

I don't particularly want to translate the whole thing, I think you can get the gist of it from google translate but if you want a particular section translated because it's unclear just post it and I'll rewrite it in English.

No, thats ok thanks. Just one question. Does the article mention his name anywhere? I just find it hard to believe an article from 10 years ago would still be in their files.
