I don't get the backlash over the use of horse on Top Chef.  It's a legitimate ingredient in a lot of cuisine, even in Canada.
 
As for whether or not I found any in Toronto - I didn't.  I am still looking, if anyone knows where I can find it locally, that would be much appreciated.  I know Bouvry Exports Ltd does it, but I can't find contact information for them anywhere.

			I've had horse...wasnt a big fan. Country where I am working right now they have a drink called 'Kamoos'....its fermented mare's milk....basically alcoholic milk. I dont think I will be trying that.  
There was a posting on CP a while ago that always stuck with me, talking about humans entering into an agreement with domesticated animals 'you help me out, and I wont eat you'.....this is really the truth. 			There's nothing wrong with horse meat... I think the problem is most people have become so far removed from the food production process that they can make that conscious choice not to eat something nowadays.

I got curious during my lunch hour to scan some of the comments on that facebook site and on Huffington. 			Eh, that's a really stupid idea, a huge waste of good meat. Horse meat is great for sausages (mixed with pork). The typical Finnish meetwurst (essentially salami) has horse in it. It's quite common stuff here. (Otherwise it's not easy to get horsemeat, mostly I think because it's not that great as such.) 
 
Horses are kept very well, so eating them is much more ethical than say eating pork. Considering the environmental issues of food production, I'd say not eating horses is fundamentaly unethical, since they're being bred anyway.
