Are they speaking freely or is just political? I don't want to get into a gun control debate, but the bottom line is, the registry program does absolutely nothing to prevent criminals from getting illegal, unregistered guns, so I don't see how it accomplishes anything.

What else could it possibly have been? If Harper wasn't planning to usurp Paul Martin and become PM if the Liberals lost the confidence of the House, what were the "other options" he meant? There are only two scenarios that can occur when the ruling party loses a confidence vote: 1) election, 2) another party or coalition of parties forms a new government. That's it.

Layton does well with his one-liners.

Then why didn't they sign an agreement to form a coalition like Dion and Layton did? If Harper was so unequivocally trying to form a coalition government where is the signed agreement saying so?

Layton and Duceppe have both said that was exactly Harper's plan. Harper, for obvious reasons, is saying that wasn't the case. At least one of them is lying...

Harper should leave the whole "elected police officer" thing it's the tail wagging the dog... most of them seem to support it until they run for office as a Tory.

Yeah, that was Harper's plan. Of course, that doesn't explain why it never happened, but we'll just ignore that fact.
