Anyone who says this is a terrible idea, doesn't know business. From a business standpoint, this will be VERY successful.

If there's one good thing about this: Now when a guy makes me mad at Cowboys and I follow him to the Casino to bludgen him with a toilet tank lid, I won't have so far to walk.

Say what you like, I'm not a fistpumper myself, but this will probably make a lot of money.
Nothing bad to say about Vickers because I don't really know him. I think he gets a bad rep because basically pretty much any flamboyant business owner (especially someone in the entertainment and nightclub business) connotates a bad image in people's minds. I think it takes a personna like him to do well in his industry.

I'm not a fan of the old Cowboys (or any clubs in general), but it was very iconic for the city. Every visitor I've ever had from around the world would ask about Cowboys. I've seen several mock ups for the Stampede Park area and I really think it will improve the area and the city immensely. It will be a happening place.

He certainly is a shrewd businessman and knows how to succeed, but he does have a reputation behind him, and not a shining one at that.

That said, I thought he absolved himself of all his business in Calgary? Last I heard he was in New Orleans doing various business projects.

And it will be back just in time for Prince William to hit on his honeymoon. This is why he's coming to Calgary - Harry told him all about Cowboys.
He'll just have to dump the old ball and chain somewhere for the night.

Perhaps Vickers can find some way to have Charlie Sheen show up for the grand opening. I wouldn't put anything past him, I wonder if he made much money down south with those inflatable oil-damns he invested in?

Was Cowboys one of the places that was accused of having racist admission policies? They better not try to keep Asian people out of the Casino, or there could be hell to pay.
One thing I definitely look forward to is the nightly influx of drunk d-bags leaving Cowboys who think they know how to play poker padding my wallet.

They won't keep the Asian's out. They're just stop opening the Baccarat tables. They Asians will stop coming on their own.

Cowboys and Margaritaville will be the start of an emerging Entertainment district, combined with the Cantos Music center a few blocks south.
Say what you will about Cowboys, but I've had some awesome nights in that place. I've also had many more horrible nights.

One time during stampede I tried to get into cowboys with a bunch of cute girls from my out of province university and the bouncers turned us away citing a no facial piercing policy. So stupid. Not sure I ever went there again.
Not really a big fan of dance bars that always play country. Can't really stand that music. That said, makes sense that cowboys would return in some incarnation.

Cantos will be a few blocks north, at the corner of 9th avenue and 4th street SE.
