But it isn't the nation that's compiling the lists, but rather the free citizens of that nation, exercising their rights. And what 'boundaries' are there, exactly, on the rights of free citizens to protect themselves? Certainly not the gathering and compiling of information. Unless you'd like the government to get more involved in our lives, tell us what we can and cannot know about each other?

The ALIPAC group (Americans for Legal Immigration) issued a national advisory to all local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies a warning against using the MIAC documents.
http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source...dijD60TLPWMOIg
"Since the SPLC was listed as a source in the MIAC Missouri Documents, ALIPAC sent a letter of inquiry to the Missouri Governor Jay Nixon on March 20, 2009 asking for more specific sourcing information.
"When many of us read these Missouri Documents we felt that the false connections, pseudo research, and political attacks found in these documents could have been penned by the SPLC and ADL," said William Gheen of ALIPAC. "We were shocked to see credible law enforcement agencies disseminating the same kind of over the top political propaganda distributed by these groups."

Well these institutions work with Homeland Security and law enforcement. They were distributing these phony reports out to law enforcement agencies at every level.
I just wanted to add here that SPLC wanted Lou Dobbs fired in 2009 for "fueling hatred" and "inciting people to violence"...it is actually pretty funny.

I guess I'm taking this off topic, I'll quit now.

People who held political opinions opposing abortion, illegal immigration, the New World Order, the North American Union, the Income Tax, the U.N., etc., were profiled in the MIAC report.
This document was later scrapped and apologies were made to Ron Paul and others.

FYI
The MIAC is a law enforcement fusion center. That means they have officers on special intergovernmental assignment in a task force setting to work on specific law enforcement challenges. These can include gangs, organized crime, drugs, illegal immigration, guns and human trafficking, and so on. This is a law enforcement document written by probably one or two officers with limited training, especially in research and writing. Don't blow this flawed document up into more than it is.

I don't think that Palin honestly has any chance of nomination in the GOP. Many Repubs are embarrassed by her and think she hurts the credibility of their core ideologies. The most likely candidates will be Romney and Huckabee- I'd like to see Rudy G. in there but he's too 'left' for the GOP.
As far as calling the nutcase Phelps and his ridiculous hate messages 'right'- that is incorrect. Phelps himself is supposedly a registered Democrat and has ran for office in the Democratic Kansas Primaries five times. He was also a civil rights attorney (he was disbarred). His biggest lawsuits were discrimiation suits and he's received award(s) from the NAACP. He also supported Al Gore in the 1988 election before he ever opposed him.
I am not stating that his lunacy is 'left' in any way- but his political inclination has always been associated with 'the Left.' Personally, I think you can lump him into the catergory of 'Crazy' and neither party deserves any affiliation with him and his lackeys.
As far as Phelps not being violent- I am here to tell you- I live about 45 minutes away from his 'church' and I have been to places he's been protesting several times. His WHOLE PURPOSE is to induce violence. He wants people to knock him and his cult members out so they can sue for assault. That's his whole reason for existing. Because of him, security guards and police need to be present in order to break up any disruptions or fights. And, if you talk to those idiots they'll tell you that all gays should be burned in an oven just like Hitler did to the Jews. If that's not violence, I don't know what is.

That's some kind of ironic, considering ALIPAC is endorsed by the the Vinlanders Social Club, European Americans United and the National Socialist Movement. You might know them all as White Supremacists.

Further fallout from the shooting. You'd expect some politicians to turn tail and run in fear for their lives, and that is exactly what is happening. It's just coming from an unexpected place. The Arizona Republican Party.
An official in the state Republican party has resigned out of what he has claimed, "fear for his safety."
http://www.azcentral.com/community/a...ignations.html
Miller, a 43-year-old Ahwatukee Foothills resident and former campaign worker for U.S. Sen. John McCain, was re-elected to a second one-year term last month. He said constant verbal attacks after that election and Internet blog posts by some local members with Tea Party ties made him worry about his family's safety.
Three others followed suit. It's pretty disturbing.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/...pts-local.html
"Miller, the first and only African-American to hold the party's precinct chairmanship, said he had been called "McCain's boy," and that, during a speech, a member of the audience made the symbol of a gun with his hand and pointed it at him. "I wasn't going to resign but decided to quit after what happened Saturday," Miller said. "I love the Republican Party but I don't want to take a bullet for anyone.""
Arizona is a pretty crazy place right now.

Hacks like Palin and Beck couldn't reason their way out of a wet paper bag.
Case in point: Sarah today told us "Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of a state..."
Well gee Sarah, I guess that means you'll be endorsing that "Ground Zero Mosque" any day now huh?

President Obama just gave one hell of a speech at the memorial. I hope you all got to see it.

I love that Obama made his speech almost all about the ordinary people that were killed or injured. He put a very human face on the tragedy. Well done.

No kidding.....as he was speaking I was thinking "he is talking directly to about half a dozen people in that CP thread".
Remarkable speech that left you feeling a bit better about things, no matter what side of the political spectrum you fall on. Lets hope it gains traction and lasts.

She'll get nowhere close, she's continue to say stupid things from now until 2012. Watching her self-destruction will be quite entertaining.
