I agree, that's the one thing holding them back. Wynn was signed because Ivory went on the IR. Will be curious if PT is playing. Another important one is Hargrove, without him they are very thin at DT.

Had to be done. I really like Cable and obviously so did the players but the NFL is an X & O's league and being a good guy will only get you so far. Cable basically signed his pink slip in the season when he started Grads over Campbell who was Al's guy. It backfired and likely cost the Raiders a playoff spot and surely was the final nail in the coffin. If anyone knows how the Raiders run you don't cross Al.
Davis usually likes to drag these things out but with Hue Jackson receiving interest his hand was forced. Any guy that can take a last place offense in nearly every category into top 10 in yards and number six in points scored with Jason Campbell and Bruce Gradkowski as your starting QB's and not a single go-to receiver knows what he's doing and I expect Jackson will be named the head coach within the next couple of weeks.

Not too concerned about the coaching aspect. Carroll has those guys going through walls for him, and that makes up for some of the talent the Seahawks give up to NO. Plus, the way they prepared Whitehurst for last weeks game, after limited game action all year, shows that Carroll and Bates are in tune with the NFL game.
The part about NO not travelling well late this year is correct though. The last two outdoor games, where conditions were at less than ideal, NO lost to Baltimore, and needed the Bengals to shoot themselves in the foot a couple times, to pull out a last second win. Also, in that Bengals game, the Saints toughest runner who is built for the poor conditions forecast for Saturday in Ivory, got over 100 yards.
I don't think Seattle will win, but the matchup is better for Seattle then the other wild card team in GB, given the conditions, and how the opponents are playing coming into the game.

Man did some players ever come out loudly to support Cable as the head coach and state how badly they wanted to play for him. Lechler slammed old man Davis on FSN tonight.

I never really liked the statement in professional sports like 'players badly wanting to play for the coach'. How about badly wanting to play for pride, to win, and mostly because they are paid millions of dollars and it's their job to play hard. To me it's more about providing a professional, winning environment like Belichick does rather than being buddy, buddy with players.
Players loved him because he was like one of the guys compared to coaches who have the manager at the top looking down on the players type approach like Childress and Mangini. However being one of the guys will only take you so far. The Raiders were badly outcoached by the elite teams this year like the Colts, Steelers, heck even the Dolphins came in with schemes that the Raiders were totally unprepaired for. Combine that with the fifth most penalties in the history of the league and you have a team that probably peaked at 8-8 under Cable. The team needs to be more disciplined and more calculated in their approach.

And Al Davis continues to ruin the Oakland Raiders. That franchise needs Davis to kick the bucket and soon.
Punching an assistant coach doesn't get you fired, but sweeping the division and leading the Raiders to their first .500 record since '02 does.
A win for the rest of the AFC West

Can someone remind me how the Raiders did against the AFC South, the only Division in football besides the NFC West that only had one team with a record above .500?

Raiders are playing this weekend? I will be watching the Chiefs play for sure as I'm curious to see how they handle playing an elite team. Chiefs fans should be happy but please don't gloat. The team has improved but it's still not that good and it's not out of the realm of possibility that they fall back to last place next year although the Broncos look like they could be pretty bad again.

Really? You make a signature about domination of a division, fail to make the playoffs and figure that I'm the one gloating? Hilarious!

Some guy at Raiderfans.net made it so I decided to use it for a bit as for once in nearly a decade the Raiders actually did something respectable. I prefer it to the Raider fan with paper bag over his head avatar I used to sport. Funny nobody bothered me then. I guess it's only gloating if you are happy with your team's progress. If you don't like it maybe your team will do something about it and beat the Raiders next year.

With that said I have no faith in Reinfeldt to find another QB to build around, nor do I have faith in him to find some more offensive weapons so this team can stop relying on Britt and Johnson to do everything.
Could be some long seasons ahead for the Titans until Adams either hands the team off or changes philosophy.
