I hit up Glenbrook (45st NW) this afternoon. Cheerio wasn't kidding, the ice is in excellent shape. Good boards and decent lighting at that rink.....highly recommended.

FYI.....Glamorgan's rink was still locked up. No signs indicating when the rink if getting opened.

Heard last night that the covered rink in Ramsay has no ice this year - could be related to the fact that that community's long time winter sports volunteer has stepped down and the position is still vacant. Anyone know if there's any truth the the rumour of no ice there?

On a side note, Highwood has been up and going since November 20 with just-arrived (new to them) 44 inch deep goals/nets. Beddington is up and running this year as well as Highland Park, Rosemont, Banff Trail, Rosedale, Crescent Heights, Cambrian Heights and North Haven. Mount Pleasant appears to be flooding their outdoor grass area also. No ice at Capitol Hill or Tuxedo Park by the looks of things.

My son and some friends were out on the Douglasdale rink yesterday, said the ice is pretty good.

Does anybody out there know how close the lakes (specifically Bonavista) are to opening for skating?

If anyone is intrested in, Spruce Meadows has an open rink 9-4 IIRC that gives you that old pond feel with trees and snow all around. Pretty neat and fun. Plus the lights come on and you can go for a drive around and look at the lights after skating.
