This.
Beer is really an alcohol delivery vehicle. Who drinks non-alcohol beer? Beer really does not taste that good when you think about it - fermented malt and hops? Who really liked the taste of their first beer? It takes some getting used to.

I drink beer because it impresses the girls at Boston Pizza.

Non-alcoholic beer (and even alcoholic "light" beer) doesn't taste the same as regular beer because of the techniques used the brew it. Non-alcoholic beers also tend to be cheaply made and of poor quality. If they made a 0% alcohol version of one of my favourite brands that tasted exactly the same as the alcoholic version, I wouldn't have a problem drinking it.
You're absolutely correct that beer is an acquired taste and most people don't like it at first; I sure didn't! That said, I've grown to appreciate beer just as some people enjoy wine. I don't always drink beer specifically to use it as an alcohol delivery system. I'll happily order one or two beers (which isn't nearly enough to get me drunk) to compliment the flavour of a meal.

I agree it's disgusting, but from what I've seen I'd disagree that people from Saskatchewan realize it's Alberta brewed.

I'm sure it does, but do you think most people read the fine print on the can or just see that it's green/white like the Riders and the license plates and make assumptions?

Pilsner isn't green and white like the Riders. It is green, red, yellow, white and black. The box is mostly green. I'm not even sure if that is why Rider fans like Pilsner.

Box is green so Rider fans like it seems like a stretch. There must be something more to it. I'd guess Pil sponsored the Riders at some point in the past and it was served at Taylor Field which prompted a loyalty from the fanbase.

Okay, maybe it wasn't easy, but I could have thrown some cliche Rider jokes your way. However they would have been the equivalent of 'Haha Stupid Oilers', so I didn't.

If you truly drink beer only as a source of alcohol, I'd suggest some more efficient delivery mechanisms (spirits etc).
I used to drink beer only for the social and getting drunk reasons...but then I explored all the different types of beer and now truthfully I drink for taste instead of purely alcohol. I think you develop a very deep appreciation for beer types and the tastes that go with them once you have tried a sufficient number of them. Maybe you just haven't found your real favorite beer out there? There are so many different types that taste so different from one another it is very impressive.
Fun times too, trying different beers all the time and comparing them to those that you had previously and finding your favorites.

Jesus, some of you guys haven't worked your ass off on a hot day and been thrown a Pilsner before? It's perfectly drinkable. Same with good old Lucky Lager. There's a time and a place for beer snobbery. It's not like you can't drink one of these "inferior" beers once in awhile. You guys all date only the hottest of women too, right?

I agree, I am a huge beer snob but love having a kokanee after a game of hockey in the dressing room.
Basically a hot day = any beer is good.
