Very entertaning game so far. Base runners on and great defense keeps the score 0-0
Strike zone is a little wonky, both teams have complained.

Game is over an hour old and it's only the top of the 3rd. Lots of full counts.
Texas' starter Hunter is already over 50 pitches.

EDIT: They just said Giants have already hit 14 foul balls.

2-0 Giants

2-run bomb by Huff. Hunter finally paid the price.

Giants tack on a run in the 7th, now 3-0

This Baumgartner guy is amazing.

I got to see Baumgartner in his MLB debut. Highly highly touted - top prospect in all of baseball in 2008, IIRC. Got married in the offseason and showed up to spring training in horrible shape which caused him to start in AAA Fresno. He's been rock solid all year after being called back up.

With Cain and Licecum as the top two starters in SF, Zito's contract basically being unmovable and Baugartner coming along so well, I wonder if they don't look to move Sanchez in the offseason for a bat... corner outfielder or something.

How is this series go? 2-3-2? 2 games in SF, 3 games in Texas and 2 games in SF? Or is it 2-2-1-1-1? Anyways, I think San Fran will take it in 5; otherwise SF will finish them off at San Francisco on Game 6.

The Giants pitching is simply amazing.

I'm completely frustrated by the umpire this game, yet Baumgartner is using the inconsistency to his advantage mixing up his pitches and making Rangers batters swing because everything is a strike. No seriously every pitch could possibly be called a strike. I'm kind of surprised that a pitch in the dirt hasn't been a called strike.

I don't mean this to be coming off as a winey, crying fan. I mean to give props and respect to Baumgartner for taking a bad situation and using it to his advantage in a way I can't comprehend. Cheers to him, it'll take a miracle for the Rangers to win this thing. Then again, I tend to believe the Rangers making the playoffs, let alone the World Series, is a miracle so ... anything is possible I guess.

Giants did not score in the first few innings, but they forced Hunter to throw a lot of pitches, and that eventually caught up with him.

Yes, the umpire was terrible.

My friend called me from a bar in Castro where she was watching the game. It sounded crazy - some guy in a loin cloth was in her face.

I will be in SF next weekend - I hope there is a big party going on.

As do I, I hope you're seeing a town drowning their sorrows after blowing a 3-1 series lead. Alas, I think the fat lady is warming up in the bullpen

Renteria with a 3-run bomb off of Lee.

I cannot believe what the Giants' pitching staff is doing to the Rangers line up. They can't give the World Series MVP to the entire Giants' rotation so it goes to Renteria, IMO.

after surviving Halloween is taking the advice of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, doing the Time Warp Again, back to 2004. I feel like I've been through this all before, my favourite team after years of agony makes the playoffs, surprises everyone going to the finals . . . where they fall short

This is awesome. NEVER expected my favorite baseball team to make it in the playoffs, or get a win if they got there. Truly a special moment in sports.

Hang in there, MQS. Your team played hard and got to the big game. It stings that they didn't win but man, 30 other teams would love to have been there in that position.

Congrats to the Giants! I hope they all tell Barry Bonds to kiss their asses.

Yeah, I don't mind seeing this group of Giants win the Series. When they had Bonds it was a different story. But this was the rag tag type of group with home grown pitching that you could get behind.

I'm at 21 years myself, I'm happy for you, wish the feeling wasn't mutually exclusive.

I almost know what you're talking about; yet at the same time I haven't a clue. Congrats on the win, it must feel very special.

I'm not as upset as I was when the Flames lost in 2004, I chalk this up to having suffered the heartbreak before so it's not as bad the second time around, in addition I went into the series thinking it was San Fran's to lose, and it wasn't a close game 7, one the pitch got away from Lee that went over the fence I knew it was over so I had time to let it sink in.

This really does suck though, somehow not making the playoffs was always easier to deal with (mind you I'll take losing in the World Series over missing the playoffs seven days a week and twice on Sundays)

Awesome time for Giant fans, gutsy team with brilliant pitching. After a season that seemed like it wanted to go off the rails several times, Bochy kept it together and they peaked in the post season. First Saints, now Giants, ok Flames you are up.
