If she doesn't agree make it:
McIver vs Nenshi vs an empty podium
make it plainly obvious to anyone watching that one candidate was invited but clearly declined to participate.

Barb imploding is a good thing for McIver, much less so for Nenshi.

Completely agree with this.

Nenshi and McIver should just square off with each other. Basically, it's giving the city a debate that everyone will tune in to, without any bullcrap no-show / cancellations.

It'll make Barb look extremely bad. The legitimacy of her campaign will nose dive.

I really don't see why Nenshi and McIver don't just go for it and bury her campaign in the process.

Please everyone do yourself a favour. Do NOT vote for Barb Higgins. Puppet to the previous corrupt "leader" of this City.

I'll jump on the bandwagon and agree that a Nenshi/McIver debate should still be a go. Higgins will probably join afterwards, unless she's giving up now.

McIver and Nenshi both in, but Higgins wanted all 15 candidates or just her versus McIver.

Translation: either she doesn't want Nenshi there at all, or she wants 12 other candidates to cut into his airtime.

		| Dear Bob,
This coming Monday (October 18th) is the Calgary Civic Election. As
recreational hockey players we have an opportunity to voice our
opinions on the state of our game in Calgary. A lack of arenas has
pushed adult hockey players to late night ice times and limited
access. We all know this is not an ideal situation so the NCHL has
been working with the City of Calgary for the last four years to do
something about the ice shortage. Our solution to bring more sheets of
ice to all hockey players, both minor and adult, has been met with
great support from the City’s Administration and has been championed
by current Alderman and Mayoralty candidate Ric McIver.

This upcoming election gives us the chance to impact how we will all play hockey in the future. As the NCHL administration we are putting our support
behind Ric McIver in his bid to be Calgary's next Mayor. Ric has
expressed that new recreation facilities will be a priority in his
time in office and we believe that he is the candidate to provide the
city with more new arenas. We look forward to continuing our work with
Ric and the Administration to end the City of Calgary’s ice crisis.

“I too am a hockey player and understand the difficulties facing
recreational hockey players in the city of Calgary. I would like to
continue working on solving these problems. I am humbled and grateful
for any support from the players in the NCHL.”

 Ric McIver

If the problems facing rec hockey are important to you, then put your
 support behind Ric McIver.

On October 18th 2010 go out and vote!

 the NCHL

Barb's was kind of funny...guy calls in and asks why she isn't doing the debate between the final 3 and her response is that she hasn't heard of anything regarding a debate between the final 3 and that she's real busy.

I listened to that... that makes her either a liar or a wilfully blind dummy.

My preferences would be 1) Nenshi (by a large margin) 2) McIver (don't think he's going to do anything really helpful, but won't make things worse), .... 10) Higgins... she has no business being in this race.

I got an email like at from a guy running a pool I am in. But I tinckuded a picture of kids holding a McIvor sign.
Would this rank as the most exciting race in Calgary municipal history ? I am too young to remember anything but Dueer and Bronco.

I have also never seen my group of a-political friends talking politics before.
