I'm glad this thing is free because it's not that great. I tried a variety of avi files and it was a crapshoot as to which ones would play. It's great in theory but the supported codecs are too limited.
I have airvideo and I use it almost religiously. An offline solution would be welcome for times when I don't want to convert and stream over 3g. Unfortunately this product is not it.

I'm using Blu4ever (on a jailbroken ipad) to use my blackberry as a tethered data provider over bluetooth; for those of you who bought the cheaper (and slightly lighter) Wifi-only model this is the way to have always-connected access. I have a Rogers 5 GB data plan, which like all their plans over 1 GB includes tethering, so I don't need to pay any additional data fees.
The speed is NOT as fast as 3g (since the bluetooth connectivity adds overhead) but is still pretty decent for everything I've used it for so far, which is mostly surfing, email, and logging into remote desktops.

Photoshop Express came out today. Very similar to the iPhone app in its simplicity and tools (crop, adjust colours being the main weapons). It's free, but I'd still recommend going with Photogene. It's $3, but I find it less confusing and offers up more in terms of manipulation. Neither are pro quality of course, but for quick and dirty adjustments in a pinch they are pretty solid.

If (like me) you can't type very well on the virtual keyboard, this http://www.freedominput.com/freedom-...onnex-keyboard is an excellent alternative. I just got one and it works very well, plus it folds up and has a carrying case. The key layout takes a bit to get used to, but nothing too major.
I was looking for those fabric keyboards but didn't have any luck finding one available in Canada.

Probably the wrong thread but still discussion worthy, Google/Verizon are rumored to be launching a cheap Chrome OS tablet on Black Friday this year. Some sources are saying the tablet might be free with a contract (or in the $199 range). Of course, even if this product launch happens as predicted, we likely won't see something like this in Canada any time soon.
Anybody using Simplenote and having issues with the latest update? The search feature is totally borked for me, and whisks you away to the first bit of text in the first note it finds, before you’ve even finished typing, with no way to navigate back. It’s supposed to just narrow the list of notes, and allow you to pick the ones that have the text you are looking for.
Thought i'd bump this.
VLC Media Player has submitted an app to Apple for approval! No more video conversion =) (There's also CinexPlayer, but vlc is the best!)

Does anyone know will the new iPad that is scheduled to be released this fall come with an solid-state hard drive or will they be using the flash garbage that is in the current model?
