For "can't wait to play", Mass Effect 3. There's others I know I'll buy, but I might not play them right away. Mass Effect 3 I want to play because I want to know how the story ends... and get back with my girl!
For impact on the industry, Crysis 2. Crytek claims to have discovered some kind of voodoo magic to do stereo 3D with virtually no extra strain on your system.

Diablo 3
Starcraft II
Cataclysm
Mass Effect 3
Dragon Age 2
I have a slight bias towards Blizzard and Bioware apparently.

Deadliest Warrior is another game I'm looking forward to which comes out Wednesday on Xbox Live. Apparently you're suppose to be able to kill someone with one blow if the circumstances are right.

Anyone else get the feeling they are waiting for WoW to die and then release this as the next MMO?

I skipped NHL 10 so looking forward to getting NHL 11. Other than that, Deus Ex 3. Not much else.

I doubt it, just a company that is known to be really slow developing games. I bet its 2 to 3 years away (best case).

I wouldn't say Blizzard is a slow developer, they just want everything to be super polished. Not to mention they add a ton of content. If D3 is anything like D2 then it will be a huge game.
I expect a 2011 release similar to Star Craft 2 (summer), but as that is a year away and we still don't have any idea on the progress, I am guessing closer to 2011 christmas or 2012 summer. Either way, D3 is going to be damned polished and big.

Because I am angry that I can't look forward to new games because the industry is going in directions that are totally opposite of the things that I like or the directions I think they should be advancing in. Every new game that I've played in the last few years has greatly disappointed me in terms of recycling the same things over and over again and being technologically stuck 5 years ago. It feels like things are going backward and people are settling for less than what things should be.
I should be excited for Starcraft 2 but BattleNet 2.0 leaves much to be desired and tempers my enthusiasm for the parts of the game that I value which are custom maps (which now are 1MB restricted, must be hosted on Blizzard servers, only one version with one name can exist at once, there is no lobby/chat system to organize custom games, etc).
I wanted to love Fallout 3 but they were terribly disappointing, just Oblivion with guns and the Gamebyro engine looks horrible with the color palatte and texture style of Fallout. Fails to live up to the originals in every way.

I agree to a point with Hack&Lube.
The industry these days does seem to regurgitate the same games over and over.
Hell, most AAA games these days are just FPS games. No one ever comes up with something new, it sucks.
Well it is either FPS or sequels. Sequels are good to a point, but in a list of "Most anticipated games of 2011", if half of them are sequels (usually more are), then that year is a fail. AC2 is the best sequel IMO to be released in a long time. It was good ol' AC, but everything bad about the first was addressed and it deserved the GotY awards.
This may sound silly but my aspirations in life do include starting up a video game company, problem being it costs A LOT of money, but I want to start my own company up to sell fresh ideas and rid the industry of stupid over-used ideas.

I don't think Diablo 3 will be an MMO, I think it will follow suit like Diablo 2 as a hack/slash RPG.

I agree too. I've tried a lot of the big name games with great reviews this generation and very very few have really kept me engaged at all. I am wondering if it is me changing and having less interest in gaming or if the industry is just getting ridiculously formulaic. Maybe a bit of both. In any case I think there are way too many "Nickelback" games out there, and the critics are either blind or paid off by the developers/publishers.

I wish the flight/space sim genre was still with us. With today's technology, you could make amazing games with amazing stories. We need historical games too, that aren't WWII, WWII 2, etc.
I played games to be drawn into another world, not be drawn into the latest FPS clone.

This is a great comment. Too many games are made to the norm, and rarely push the boundaries of out is possible in terms of story or gameplay.
Graphics are one thing, but a lot of stories in games are predictable, they all have the same game play style.
Where are games like Conker, Banjo Kazooie, Wolfenstein (of old, the new one is terrible)?
Call of Duty/Activision ruined all FPS's anyway, and EA has ruined the business model of video gaming. That and Microsoft charging for clothing for my avatar.

"Most anticipated" games will almost always be sequels or unoriginal simply because if something is original you don't know what to expect. Portal for instance started out as throw-in to The Orange Box... then people started buying The Orange Box just for Portal. Portal 2 though is well anticipated.
