The real protestors are there saying that there isn't enough being done to alleviate poverty around the world, the need for a better response from our leaders on environmental issues and asking for a "Green New Deal" which includes strong re-regulation of the financial sector. But that doesn't get covered by the news because some asshats want to break stuff and spit on cops.
I bet you will find that the anarchists are protesting for the same reasons as the non violent protestors. They have just chosen to get attention through criminal actions. That is why the regular protestors complain loudly about the police response but, say and do very little about the anarchists.

Why do you think these anarchists stayed far away from the tea party rallies in the States in this past year? After all they were protesting the government just like the G8 protestors. They were angry at the government just like the G8 protestors. The answer I believe was that the anarchists aren't against big government like the tea party is. They want a new world order which is bigger government: they want a socialist government which redistributes wealth. Secondly, I don't think the Tea party protestors would have tolerated the anarchists. They would have cooperated with the police in identifying the anarchists at the very lest. Thats if they didn't remove them themselves.

It's been sad seeing Facebook updates from my Toronto friends and family worried about things going on not far from their places. I'm hoping there's some calm today (or at least some serious protestor beatdown).

If you're going to protest, though, don't forget your trumpet.

I didn't realize the runner-up from first season of American Idol was so upset at the way his life turned up.

Seriously though, I've lived here all my life and have never once seen so many hippies. I have no idea how so many of them congregated in one place, but it's virtually impossible for police to ID some of these troublemakers when they're all dressed in the same rags.

Wow, good thing these enlightened individuals were there to put a spotlight on Starbucks' oppression of the masses. Way to sock it to 'em, fellas!

Murder as the appropriate response to a broken window.

Idiotic opinions like that is why the US is what it is, and I have no desire for Canada to go down that path.

They even hit up Fran's, where we had dinner the last time you visited. Fran's and their evil, oppressing ways.

I did see broken glass outside of Tim's, so I'm assuming it was. That whole stretch was vandalized... even Fran's Restaurant, which is family-owned.

Fun-fact: The original chef at Fran's was the first person to put bacon on a cheeseburger.

I think if you throw a rock at someone who is holding a gun that should be considered suicide rather than murder.

Sunday morning raids lead to hundreds of arrests including protesters found sleeping in bushes in the downtown core.

Ahh I just drove by so I didn't see it.

Fran's? Seriously? Unless you are protesting awesome breakfasts and homefries you missed your target.

That is awesome! hahahahha

idiots. If you are going to be criminals you might as well take some money from the places you destroy and get a good hotel room.

Really? I don't think I know anyone who would get behind this moronic display. If anything, your lame post is the cliche.

Nope, it is just murder. And nothing more than an irreversible act of cowardace over petty vandalism.

I'm all for protest, but violent protest accomplishes nothing but enabling repression. Those "legit" protesters in the crowd would be best served by grabbing the hooligan element and turning them over; that woudl elicit far more positive publicity than this current attitude of tacit approval.
