ROFL.. he's only allowed to return "As a paramedic responding to a call"...
If I were him, I'd be ordering a decaf on the way out... they could bring me coffee made from the tears of jesus and I'd still complain....

There is no way they can change their coffee, without process change from the higher up. I hope dude realises this. That's why the coffee was bad three times in a row. Becuase it's the same thing every time!! Have never tried the decaf but the regular is strange watery flavour with loads of caffiene.

My favorite part was about him contacting a lawyer in hopes of having the ban overturned.

I can see the next story coming out of that town...
"...witnesses said that the attending paramedic was engaged in a heated argument with the manager of the restaurant and "completely ignored" the ailing man on the floor. A second ambulance had to be called but was too late to save the man's life".

Good on the restraunt owner. To many restraunts try appeasement of customers when its clear they come to complain. Anyone who has worked in a restraunts knows the type. They just keep coming in even though they know they don't like the product. I don't know what makes a person do it.

Ya, it's nice to see the owner stand up for his staff. You cannot please some people because they either complain just to complain, and if you read the article this guy was chronic complainer. People that chronically complain also tend to expect free things, and exploit upper management in order to get it, and upper management tend to NOT stick up for their managers/staff. Good on em.

"The customer is always right." God do I hate that saying. People think it is like some sort of kryptonite statement when dealing with anyone in customer service.
I had a guy once, buying a car from us and he was totally unaware of how interest is calculated. He thought 7.49 % meant 'take the price and just add another 7.49 percent and divide up the payments equally.' So I tried to show explain to him what APR meant, how interest is calculated etc, how my profession is finance, and how I have been doing this for 10 years, and I am sure I know what I am talking about. We are talking a difference in the thousands. Finally he stops me in my tracks and says.... "haven't you heard the saying the customer is always right?" I reply, "Yes sir, I have, and this is one of those instances that completely disproves the entire argument." Customer looked shocked for a second and so did his wife.... then I said " Should I continue?" he replies "Um... yeah, ok, sorry."
If I know for certain, that what the customer is telling me is false or inaccurate, I have no issues politely correcting them. If they play the ignorant customer card, or "customers always right card" it usually doesn't end well. I do everything in my power to be polite to my customers, and I am not paid to be treated like an idiot by them.

Nothing is better when people just expect a store or restureant to bend over for them. People get so angry when I deny them returns. I had one guy come in and try to return a flames jersey that his son played hockey in and it frayed along the boards. I told him I can't take that but maybe if he talks to my manager he could do something.
Guy lost it, started threatening me, telling me he's going to ruin me and stuff like that... and now I'm here on CP taking it out on you guys...
But actually he just called head office they told him to call reebok and nothing ever came of it.

People with heart conditions.
Decaf coffee at many places likely sits all day because it is not ordered nearly as much as caffeinated. Most cafes/coffee shops will change out their coffee every couple hours regardless of how much is left... I am guessing this particular Timmy's was not doing that, leaving it to burn.
I will drink decaf if I want to get a coffee at night. A Timmy's decaf, if made properly, tastes virtually the same as a regular imo.

Tim Hortons' policy is to dump coffee after 20 minutes. The one I worked at was very strict about that.
They don't care about dumping it. My supervisor told me that the bag of coffee costs them 16 cents each and makes 4 XL coffees...

That mark up is INSANE!!! I may start a thread about how cheap some companies can be.

Power trip. They come back knowing that the service or product wont meet their lofty standards, and they do it because they get to lord over the insignificant help. Usually, companies will cave for fear of negative publicity, which only perpetuates the problem.
Fortunately in this case, he tried it against a bloody Tim Hortons. That company is bullet proof in this country. If he did that to a mom and pop coffee shop, then the livelihood of the owners is in jeopardy.
I've had a couple people try this on me in tech support. They inevitably found that either their accounts were mysteriously locked out repeatedly, or that I was always too busy helping others (playing solitaire) to get to their calls. You want to bitch about poor service, I will show you poor service.

"The customer is always right" is the worst slogan known to man. It makes absolutely no sense. I can't even count the amount of people who use to try this when I worked at Bell, I would just laugh and say "Not this time".
Glad this got told to go elsewhere for his coffee.

Chalk me up as another person who hates "the customer is always right!" When the employees go out of their way to please you and you STILL manage to find something to complain about, that's just ridiculous!

Reminds me of Mallrats:
T.S. Quint: Haven't you ever heard the phrase "The customer is always right?"
Shannon Hamilton: Let me tell you something. Let me give you a little secret, okay.[ yells it right in T.S.' ear]
Shannon Hamilton: The customer is always an @#$%hole!

7/11> Tims coffee. Plus you get to make it yourself and not have to watch some awkward Tim's employee do it and spill it all over the cup.
For the amount of people that go to Tim's you would think they would put more thought into the design/layout and some of the locations of their stores.
