Reading those cracked synopses is highly disturbing. I would absolutely no want my teenage daughter reading that heteronormative sexist trash. That has got to be one of the most regressive female lead characters of its generation.

For all the crapiness that is Buffy, at least that character and that story is about strong feminity and standing up to men. This is about waiting for your idiotic insecure self to come be saved by some bag of stoic meat. Seriously?

Absolute garbage. For shame to the female fans of this series who put on appearances that they are strong independent children of the feminist movement. Blech!

Yes without the romance, but with 10% more school girls and pizza delivery guys.

Honestly, the first time I read them I really liked them - even though they were only 'fluff'.

I read them again, because I always read books that I like at least twice...wasn't such a good read the second time.

Honestly if they do the 4th movie where he guts that chick with his teeth and pulls a screaming embryo out of her writhing paralyzed projectile vomiting body I'll spend the 15 bucks to see that shown on the big screen, then I'll leave.

Of course because its all young chicks watching it, it will be completely different and involve rainbows, soft romantic music, slow motion and no blood which would be crap.

I don't know, we should ask all those woman that get off on jail house marriages to serial killers, because I'd like to know their secrets.

I agree the books are garbage, I wasn't able to read more than a paragraph without laughing my ass off. It felt like it was meant to appeal to the lowest common denominator; a mindlessly easy read that had the depth and character development of a Where's Waldo book.

I feel sort of hypocritical trashing its fans though. Yes, they are passionate about something that is pretty ######ed, but so is everyone on this board from others perspectives. We get worked up about trades, and wins, and losses, and all sorts of stuff to an extent that lots of people out there find it ridiculous. I know I would get really annoyed at this guy at work who'd always make fun of me for liking hockey so much, he'd always say "Your hobby is centred around the success and failure of other people, how is that in any way something you can be so passionate about and waste so much money on?" I tried to explain it, but obviously couldn't because he just didn't understand it. Same way I don't understand why anyone could like something as stupid as Twilight.

I find people who get really worked up over trades, wins and losses equally weird.

I do find the double standards a little silly. Lots of guys like Transformers and Transformers 2, yet it's basically Twilight's equivalent for boys.

You got a point. I wouldn't mind people liking Twilight that much if the acting was at least some decent and not like it was from some junior high play rehearsal. I judt don't get how that movie could get that much people paying for it.

Hey . . . Maybe we can combine two social ills. Imagine combining Twilight with Seal Clubbing.

I mean there are probably millions of Twilight fans out there grazing on that crap. We should offer hunting licenses to thin the herd so to speak. I mean it would be hard but lets face facts, Twilight fans are really inversely effecting the national IQ average, plus they're consuming our air and food.

Some humane clubbing might be in order.

It would make me happy, everyone who hates Twilight happy, and it might save some baby seals cause our focus will be on clubbing Twilight fans.

A book about a vampire looking for love in the more age-appropriate nursing home almost seems creepier though, doesn't it?

On the one hand, you make a good point. On the other hand, it is right and proper to make fun of people's quirky enthusiasms when they pertain to something that objectively sucks - be that Twilight, Michael Bay movies, or the Vancouver Canucks.

Today I watched New Moon with the gf, and after seeing her drool over Jacob's all-too-sexy body, I hastily signed up for a 2-year membership at 24 Hour Fitness while still in the movie theatre using my iPhone. Now I can work out everyday and so I can lift motorcycles off pickup trucks. MLIT

I was working in the yard, and every time I walked in the sunlight I pretended that i could sparkle and that Edward was there. Then, I remembered the scene in New Moon when Bella is a vampire and they are in Italy, and I started to run slowly and act it out.

Today, I got really excited. Why? Because my ex broke up with me two days after New Moon came out, It was like a hole had been punched through my chest, I seriously felt like that. And now my guy friend likes me who I just wanna be friends with, and my ex wants me back. Hehe My life is New Moon!!!

Looks like you're the only one with the underage think going on.

Miley Cyrus? Really? She looks like a teenage boy.

One MINOR difference is that hockey involves REALITY, whereas vampires teenage vampire angst doesn't.

^ Locke, I'm not quoting you for the same reason as I originally read like 3 lines of that site and shut it down. That is absolutely pathetic.

I whole-heartedly agree that these people should be put out of their misery though. Late tonight I will start another thread with my 15 year plan to exterminate all Twilight fans in Calgary...if I have the time.

I've read the first three after the girlfriend suggested I give them a go. Easy reads. There is nothing to make me as a guy become attached to the main characters. I couldn't feel any emotion for Bella, Jacob, or Edward. It just seemed like there was really no highs or lows to the stories. I had to force myself to see if ANYTHING would change through the other two books. Nope.

The movies were even worse. There's better acting in your average high school play than what was displayed on that screen. Pattinson's career should be shot with whatever kind of acting 'chops' he displayed onscreen. Lautner has a nice body. Oooooo... The worst part of it is how it's gotten out of control, and how everything has some sort of 'Team Edward' or 'I'll be Your Bella..." and all of this blab.

True Blood is what vampires on screen should be like. None of this glistening in the sunshine as if he's some sort of saint. Burn, like every OTHER vampire in any sort of literature ever. Meyer should be ashamed, as she's totally taken a character and transformed it into something it never was, and never should have been.

A couple of links for you guys.
