There seems to be a large number of board game fans around.
I host a monthly games night in McKenzie Towne where usually a dozen of us or so play some of the latest and greatest board games around.
If any one would like to learn some new games, or play some old favorites, we would love to have you stop by. It is a great place to bring a wife or girlfriend to as well.
You are welcome to bring your own games, but there is usually 20 or more titles to choose from.
We play in the McKenzie Towne Hall the first Friday night of every month from 6 - 9 p.m. (early enough so that people can still go out afterward). While it is a ways South, it is easily accessible from either Deerfoot or 52nd Street SE (right at the Northern point of the traffic circle).
The only catch is that the Hall does charge $2/person for those who are not members of the Residents Association (although enforcement is usually pretty lax).
Hope to see some of you out there!

Reason: Revised the Date
Bought Memoir recently, but haven't had a chance to play it yet (well i guess I played a few turns with my 5-year-old).
Games that we have got to the table in previous months include:
Catan
Carcassonne
Kingsburg
Battlestar Galactica
Ticket to Ride
Wits and Wagers (a terrific 'party' game)
Mississippi Queen
Bohnanza
Pandemic
Small World
Galaxy Trucker
Puerto Rico
We also have time booked on November 6th and December 4th, so feel free to join us at one of those as well.
I will sometimes go to the monthly one in Tuscany.
Current games ownership includes
Memoir44 and all expansions
Power Grid
Brass
Agricola
Settlers 3D Collectors Edition
Space Hulk
T2R
Puerto Rico
Dominion
Die Macher
Aquire
Air Baron
A&A D Day, Europe Pacific
Container
Die Macher
Tide of Iron
Monopoly Canadian Edition
Memoir44 is an awesome game. Go to the website to download more scenarios.

Compared to Memoir or Tide of Iron Axis and Aliies is garbage. Check out the command and colors games for good war games.
A&A No replayability and they take forever. I purchased and keep them simply for nostalgia.
Also I have the anniversary Risk edition - again another game that was great until you discover that there are more to board games than Clue, Monopoly, Risk or Axis and Allies.
In Calgary Sentry box is king, Rev games is good although selection isnt great.
If you get into board games, www.boardgamegeek.com for ratings and www.boardsandbits.com if you ever make a road trip to spokane or www.germangames.com for good prices and affordable shipping options to Canada - they are based in Canada even though they have a strage name.

The greatest board game of all time is Diplomacy - no dice!
I'm sure I've played Diplomacy at least 2 dozen times... I'd never play again unless every player didn't know each other. Very, very aggravating game to play unless everyone is a stranger... to much possibility for outside-game collusion to fix the results.
These seem like more in depth, and there fore better, versions of Risk.
I like it.

Or you need to play among a group of friends who have an equal amount of dislike to go around.
