The Reuben is definitely great. I haven't had a real Reuben in Calgary in a while. Most of the shops that sell a Reuben don't even have rye bread. Reuben on multi-grain? Why even offer it at that point?
I'm a simple sandwich kind of guy. Bread, mustard, and meat. I usually stock up on meat from a Polish and/or Russian deli and just load up some rye bread with all kinds of tasty pork products.

Sopressata is the shiz.
Delicious recipe:
Lightly sprinkle olive oil on both pieces of bread
little bit of pepper
sopressata on one bread
bocconcini on the other bread
toaster oven for 3 or 4 minutes
if you like tomato, add a raw slice
consume

I was at the deli beside Galaxie Diner this weekend (forgot the name... it used to be Palace of Meats but now it's _____'s Deli), and was pretty satisfied with their reuben. A little on the expensive side, but I don't mind paying a bit extra for a good one.

Myhre's Deli. Still not sure why he changed the name of it - it's still owned by the same guy, Brad Myhre.
Darnit, I want a sandwich for lunch now.

The Oak Room at the Palliser used to have one of my favorite sandwiches.
Roast Turkey with black forest ham, brie, lettuce, cranberry sauce and mayo. Everything was heated before they threw the lettuce on so the Brie was melted sightly. There may have been a little more to it but this was the jist of it.
Yummmmm.

I really enjoy a freshly cooked/made egg salad sandwich.
Everytime I boil some eggs to make egg salad for sandwiches for lunch the next day, I just have to make myself a sandwich right then and there... while the eggs are still warm.

How did I not read this thread earlier? I love sandwiches. I think I'm mildly obsessed with sandwiches actually, I have a book where I write down delicious sandwiches I have had or made so that I don't forget them........ anyways....
I don't eat dairy, and very little meat, so I'm probably the only one who likes my own sandwiches... but one of my favourites is:
Toasted whole wheat or brown bread
Hummus
Avocado
Lettuce
Tomato
Peppers
Mushrooms
Toasted pumpkin seeds
Maybe some spicy mustard
Now I really want a sandwich.
