It has, but the proliferation of regional sports channels is only about 10-15 years old. Prior to that, most teams were on local television only, with the odd game of the week on ESPN.

Consider coverage of the Flames today compared to when we were on 2&7. 70 games on free TV, 80+ overall, compared to maybe 35 games 20 years ago, and most of the ones we didn't get weren't broadcast at all.

We in Canada were spoiled that TSN had the rights to the Jays. That was 100+ games on TSN alone, more than nearly any other team in baseball in the 80s. And then CTV or CBC picked up many of the rest.

Don't kid yourself, a perfect game is no less a team accomplishment, as shown by that catch in the 9th inning.

That catch that Wise made is absolutley epic given the circumstances.

Has to be one of the best catches of all time.

Ramon Castro (a former Calgary Cannon) caught the game for Buehrle. One of the biggest SOBs when he played for the Cannons and a POS in real life, but a pretty significant feat. I don't think Buehrle shook him off the whole game.

How would you like to be thrown in in the 9th of a perfect game attempt, and the first batter cranks one to your field and the wall. Talk about clutch.

ESPN has an article today that says that Buehrle pretty much never shakes off the catchers call.

It's part of how he pitches so quickly, he only spent a total of about 30 minutes standing on the mound yesterday afternoon.

Yeah, that is the type of catch that you made on adrenaline alone.

Reminds me of the David Tyree catch in the Superbowl. Just gets better every time you watch it, especially knowing what was on the line.

Ya I heard that - Castro called a good game (I didn't see him taking signs from the dugout). As a fan, I love pitchers like Buehrle. Nothing's worse than dragging out a game by walking around the mound, kicking the rubber, shaking off 2-3 signs every at bat, etc...

I have Buehrle on my fantasy team. Perfect game and I'm still getting my butt kicked, mostly in the offensive categories. His 9 innings pitched, 0.00ERA, 0.0WHIP is offset a little by Ryan Franklin's 0.2 innings pitched, 27 ERA, and a WHIP of 6.00.
