Default What is the easiest Olympic medal to win?

So I was thinking. I am 33 years old, a bit overweight, and havent been to the gym in 15 years. Lets say my new goal in life is to win an Olympic medal. Problem is I havent trained for any event in my life, i'm gonna start tomorrow. What sport would you pursue to have a chance of winning?

A few come to mind:

Curling or shooting: Takes allot of practise, but you dont really need to be in the best of shape.

Equestrian: Not really my thing but the horse does most of the work right?

The middle guy in a four man Bobsled: A bit of running then just along for the ride...

Any idea's?

As sad as that is I agree with you. Is it just me or does Canada put most of it's athletic emphasis on hockey...or winter sports in general?

Swimming?

How can a guy that comes from a country with no swimming pools and a vague idea how to swim get into the Olympics? LOL.

They say curling is the only sport in which you can win an Olympic medal with a beer in one hand.

How is this not on TV right now?

However at your age I would say weightlifting and just find the good steroids they can't detect!

I honestly wouldn't be against a seperate steroid games.

I'd love to see how fast a man can run or how much he could lift with his body totally laced.

Let them at it!

You should probably take up a sport that no one else competes in like Luge.

Curling would be physically easy, but there are probably over a million curlers in Canada alone and the competition is very stiff.

Probably toughest to get on, but easiest to actually earn once you're on the team is 3rd string goalie on one of the hockey teams.

How is handball easy to win a medal in? It's extremely competetive in Europe and requires great athleticism.

Its very much a European dominated sport, lots of fun to watch and tough as hell to play well at a high level.

The handball comment was an OT comment, because I was looking at the list of events and didn't realize it was an Olympic event and was wondering why it wasn't on TV. I then went on to say what event he should go for and how to go about it.

I think anyone even mentioning curling in this thread, has clearly never even attempted it.

Ah, I see. I thought you were making fun of it.

It is dominated by Europe, but a lot of other countries compete in it. It's not really unlike basketball which is dominated by the U.S. and a few European and South American countries. I would also guess that the athletic requirements are similar (except for height).
