I think if it is possible we should have 5 D on the roster. I can't imagine 4 will show up to every game.

Also, if everyone could, just give a brief description of your skill, so I have a good idea of what we are looking like heading into the season, just in case the shinny doesn't come to fruition.

ie: I played up to bantam when I was younger, and have now played 2 years of rec hockey, or, I learned when I was an adult and have now played 2 years rec hockey, etc.

Also, if you have major temper problems, or don't play well with others, I can tell you right now that you shouldn't bother paying the fees. Having an easy going team that gets along is more important than having a skilled team imo, because if someones pouting and yelling at teammates every game and no one's having fun because of it, then what's the point of playing?

The way it's worked best in the past is to have 4 d-men per game, but have your full time d-men and then at least 2 or 3 guys that play forward, but that can also play defense comfortably if 1 or 2 d-men don't make it out to a game.

For example, I'm listed as a forward, and another guy from the current team will also be listed as a forward, but we are both very confident at playing defense as well.

Ahh, I see. Cool. Skill: I played until Midget. Have played most winters or summers for the last 10 or so years (I'm 30 now). I cant score goals but I can help prevent them.

Actually, due to your screen name, I'll allow you to wear the 14's. But I'll have you know, he's my favorite player of all time. He's also the best player of all time to, I know this because he said so in an interview.

Well, if we all know one thing about rec hockey, it's that defense wins championships. Basically the goal is to get up by 1 goal and then go into the 1-2 trap.

Played from tyke to midget. Been a couple years since then, played shinny during the summer last year though, also I go to the outdoor rinks in the winter. I don't possess alot of god-given talent, but I make up for it in playing well positionally and making smart passes. Oh yeah, also I won't hesitate to block a shot.

Okay, I'll take the 40's, as I'm very confident with the puck in warm-up, and I can make seemless passes through multiple defenders' skates in nhl '08.

played from tyke to bantam. After that I took a couple of years off and now I have been playing rec leagues for the past 5 years or so. Also coached a bantam team for 2 years as well.

Here is a link with my stats from last year if you want to see them...joined half way though which is why I only played some of the games.

I'd be interested in playing forward if you don't mind my crappy backwards skating skills. I never played when I was a kid but I've played shinny every Friday afternoon for the past 4 years except for this past season (working full time sucks) and I played in the C division in the NCHL a couple summers ago. I'll take #19 please.

Also, for anyone already signed up to play, or anyone thinking of it, keep the costs in mind, so when I go asking for deposits I don't get half the team backing out.

If we're going to go with those jerseys in the other thread, the cost is going to be quite high. Those jerseys will likely cost upwards of $100 ea. Meaning for 2 jerseys (home and away), and socks you'll be looking at around $225, plus the $600+ for league fees.

The good news is that the costs will be broken up over the summer, as the deposit for the league fees, the jersey cost and the remainder of the league fees will be split into three different payments. But keep in mind the jersey payments and league deposit will come up fairly quickly.

It always looks cool when goalies wear numbers that aren't common to goalies, like Marty Turco.

I guess when I think of goalie numbers I think of 1, 29, 31 etc, even Kipper's 34 looks wierd to me, lol.

I'm going to get confirmations from the players on the current team before I add any more. I should be able to let you know this week sometime.
