Lindholm will be an excellent player for whoever gets him.

I think you put a premium on Tanev. From most accounts he's happy here.
If someone pays the premium, maybe you re sign him in the summer. If you don't trade him, day after trade deadline, you extend him a year.
With or without Hanifin, a calming veteran presence on the ice and seemingly in the room is something a guy like Kylington, Soly, and inexperienced guys like DeSimone and Gibby, hell even Andersson (he said it himself) could use as a mentor for as long as possible.

This is rough..
Monahan:
46 games played, 11 goals, 20 assists, 31 points, -6, 38.7% oZS, 56.4% FO%
Lindholm:
46 games played, 8 goals, 22 assists, 30 points, -9, 50.7% oZS, 55.9% FO%
I think if we get a 1st+2nd for Lindholm we count ourselves fortunate. Maybe a roster player back for cap purposes or a throw in for retention.
I'm curious if the offers are worse now then they were in the summer.

Since contending teams had little cap space in the summer, it may not be an apt comparison.

Thought the rumours was tanev is looking for a 3-4 year extension. If he only wanted a year extension, flames would probably already signed him.

Eh, I don't see Monahan as a comparable to Lindholm. One has a solid reputation as a two way center that was a runner up to Selke and the other guy is an often injured one way guy

I suspect opposition lines are a little different for Lindholm versus Monahan.

One player has probably improved his contract expectations in over last season while the other player has cost himself millions of dollars. Lindholm will have to hope that he really clicks with the team he's traded to in hopes of salvaging some worth as a free agent.

Well sure, but at the end of the day, if you want a centre to help you win which are you seriously picking?

Some fans get way too hung up on current points vs larger sample sizes. Has Lindholm had an off year? Definitely. Is he still the player everyone thinks he is, and can be? Of course.
GMs know what he can do. His price isn't going to be based on the fact that he has 8 goals this year, it's based on what he can do for a team.

Not that I believe he gets traded for a 2nd + 4th round pick (I don't), but I'd still prefer this over the alternative of losing him for nothing as a UFA, or giving him the 7yrs @ $8M contract he likely gets as a UFA.

GMBT basically ruined this franchise. It will be 8 years before we crawl out from his mistakes.
We had to pay a first to get rid of one of our best players, rather than waiting for him to heal. And now he’ll probably land MTL the haul we were hoping to get for Lindholm.

Zero chance Monny brings in more than Lindholm.
Even if you are a slave to looking only at points, they are virtually identical.
And Monny is a very flawed PP specialist.
But top suggest he'll get a haul, and Lindholm will bring in scraps is basically insane.
Let's see what each's next contract looks like.

He is like Jarnkrok when the Flames traded for him. There was no serious playoff success in his history
But yes, based on reputation, some one may overpay for him…hopefully
